He also accused Durbin of comparing U.S. troops to Nazis, saying many Illinois veterans are angry with Durbin.

Sauerberg was referring to a comment Durbin made in 2005 saying prisoners at Guantanamo Bay were receiving treatment that sounded like something "done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags or some mad regime." The comment made no reference to U.S. troops.

Durbin said Monday night that he was among the first senators to call attention to treatment at Guantanamo, though he wound up apologizing for "some words" he used.

Sauerberg really smashed Durbin on the Nazi comment. I've not watched the debate yet. They are going head to head again.

Ain’t gonna happen. There are too many dead people in Chicago to offset those of us downstate who would love to see him go.

BTW his home is about six blocks from mine and he used to go to my neighborhood barber. Glad he left town, I am not sure they can sterilize liberal stupidity out of those combs!

“Sauerberg was referring to a comment Durbin made in 2005 saying prisoners at Guantanamo Bay were receiving treatment that sounded like something “done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags or some mad regime.” The comment made no reference to U.S. troops.”

FLAT OUT LIE:

“If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime — Pol Pot or others — that had no concern for human beings,” Durbin said. “Sadly, that is not the case. This was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners.” Durbin

Yep Durbin just lied but that seems to be a common tactic of Illinois politicians. Obama does it all the time, saying he didn’t really mean what he said. Biden did the same thing on the coal comments even though there was no doubt about what he said. Liberals just lie and we need to call them out on it.

It could be interesting on election day. It is a long shot. I won’t deceive anyone but Saueberg has one problem more than any and that is money to run ads. Tom Coburn did help him raise money and Sauerberg is up with radio ads. If the National GOP had some foresight they could’ve run Durbin into the ground based upon his stupid comment about the troops alone but as usually they leave Sauerberg to get stuck against a Moveon.org poster boy with millions in his pocket. They don’t even send out emails asking for funds. I’m surprised we win anything the way the NSRC runs things. Some of our Senate candidates aren’t even up on their web site. It is really a shoddy organization. They need people that understand VRM(voter relationship management) and Fundraising outside of cocktail parties and country clubs.

It’s Illinois. It’s a blue state. It’ll never change (ACORN will make sure of that.)

The comment made no reference to U.S. troops.

Barbara Streisand, it didn't!

The rest of the quote most certainly did!

“Sadly, that is not the case. This was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners.

Maybe it depends on what the definition of "Americans"...and "their prisoners" is...

“I’ll never forget that despicable despicable speech....”

I have given money and time to Sauerberg but it is an uphill battle here in Illinois.

Durbin is a world-class jerk, a brainless liberal lackey and in general an appalling moron.

The tragedy in this case is that Durbin is potentially vulnerable. He has surprisingly high negatives for a two-term Senator but Sauerberg’s lack of money has been crippling.

Durbin’s infamous 2005 speech was a blood libel against our troops so it is no wonder has had a convenient attack of amnesia.

If dueling were still legal I would challenge him to one.

He is moral coward and an intellectual midget who only survives by virtue of our lapdog media and the fractured Republican Party in this state.

Sickening.

Sauerberg or Koppie for U.S. Senate -- who the best to Defeat Dick Durbin?

LEARN WHERE THE CANDIDATES STAND HERE:
www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2099382/posts

In summary:

Steve Sauerberg is a career medical doctor who has no experience or political record for the nation’s highest legislative office. On the issues, he supports keeping abortion legal, favors gun control measures like the assault weapons ban, pro-gay rights, pro-UN, supports federal involvement in health care, welcomes free trade (even with communist nations), supports tax cuts, favors off shore drilling, is pro-WOT, believe in global warming, opposes the bailout, is vaguely against “blanket” amnesty, supports the department of education and NOLB, and is open to confirming just about anyone, regardless of ideology.

Chad Koppie is a retired senior jumbo jet captain and farmer who has long been active in politics -- having held both elected and appointed office -- and is well qualified to be U.S. Senator, with a record of proven leadership. On the issues, he is unabashedly 100% pro-life, strongly supports 2nd amendment rights, opposes the gay agenda, strongly believes in U.S. sovereignty, opposes the feds being involved in health care and education, is strongly in favor of tax cuts and spending reductions, favors off shore drilling and ANWR, is pro-WOT, opposes the cult of global warming, opposes the bailout, is clearly against amnesty, and has promised to vote to confirm ONLY originalist and strict constructionist judges.

Which one would you want replacing Durbin and representing us in the U.S. Senate?
