Laptop Stolen from McCain Field Office
IT Business Edge ^ | October 6, 2008 at 2:57 pm | Susan Hall

A laptop containing “strategic information” was stolen from a McCain field office in Missouri, reports Computerworld.

Thieves threw a brick through a glass front to gain access to the office in Independence, Mo. The Dell laptop contained campaign information for the Kansas City area for John McCain and local Republican candidates.

Workers there consider the theft politically motivated. The story says 22 Asustek Eee PCs that phone-bank volunteers use and that do not contain sensitive information were not taken.

I hope that the campaign was smart enough to have it encrypted and have a security software on it like L0-JACK.

Lo-Jack can ping the computer and locate it. It also can send a erase message to the computer once its hooked to the net or turned on if it had a card in it.

What part of “portable computer” don’t they understand? Take the laptops home at night, you idiots!

Ya. Or if it contains sensitive info , why not leave it on the doorstep so they won't have to break the glass. The center right wonders why they lose .

Why on earth a laptop with important information on it in a swing state would be left at work unguarded is beyond me. Yes, the theft is deplorable. Almost as deplorable is the KC Republicans not understanding that this is the M.O. for the Democratic Party *coughtireslashinginMilwaukeein2004cough* and that there is almost no legal recourse against Democratic thugs. Geez, I can’t say the words “Stupid Party” enough.

There is no reason these people could not encrypt the data on the hard drive. There are free products that are very good (TrueCrypt, for example), and if used properly, even the NSA would have a difficult time getting access to the data.

Democrats in action. Remember when Watergate was considered a big deal? Now Democrats are pulling mini-Watergates all the time.

They’re going to need to steal a lot more laptops to stop people from seeing this video.

How about Obama openly campaigning for his communist cousin Odinga who signed a pact with Muslims to enact Sharia Law if elected and started riots when he lost. Obama campaigned for an openly Anti-American candidate in a foreign country in 2006.

Let’s hope they got as much good out of it as did Tricky Dick did from WaterGate.
The brothers prolly hocked it for a cupla crack rocks long before trying to see what was on it.

It would serve them right to plant an easy to later prove fake sensational story and watch the DEMOCRATS leak it implicating them in the theft.

If we had stolen a laptop from the Democrats, do you think we would have found the questions from the next debate on it?
