It is hard, sometimes, to remember that I don't have a vote in the US election. The media coverage is constant, my Twitter feed is full of it, and it is all that the blogs I read seem to be interested in - even the non-political ones. While Peter Mandelson is being brought into British government for the third time, the US political scene seems to dazzle with its array of new faces and new personalities. Barack Obama's inspirational idealism and John McCain's time spent as a prisoner of war make our politicians look a little grey and ordinary. And then there's Sarah Palin, who can see Russia from her house. I am someone who really would like to see more women in government, but Palin makes me cringe every time I hear about her. Dan Quayle's repeated gaffes - and who can forget his gnomic remarks and inability to spell potato? - simply made many think that he was an intellectual lightweight. But it's hard not to worry that some people might see Palin's mistakes as a reflection on the intelligence of women in general. From her rambling and incomprehensible answers to simple questions, to her inability to define the Bush doctrine, to her apparent unwillingness to name a single newspaper she reads, her performance seems constantly to support the charge that she is simply not ready to become vice-president of the US. Interestingly, Jed Lewison, writing in the Huffington Post on October 1, dug up footage of Palin performing in debates on Alaskan issues in which she acquitted herself well, suggesting that she might simply have been brought up through the party ranks too quickly rather than that she's entirely incompetent. And although I'd rather see a hard-hitting intellectual ...

There might be some. Mostly, they are voting AGAINST Obama because they don't trust him, or they know what his record is (and it is even too liberal for them!)
No.
I also wonder how many voters have become fed up with McCain/Palin in view of the stock market crash. Millions have lost a huge chunk of their life savings in this recent crash. The Republicans have failed to distinguish McCain/Palin from the Bush train wreck. Bush and McCain both want to invest SS funds in the stock market.
Second thoughts anyone?
are there blacks that are going to vote for obama because he’s black ???
then using the same reasoning ... heck yeah, women should vote for palin because she’s a woman !!!!
how can these so called feminists proclaim to be feminist and not vote for Palin ???? I don’t get them ... they left me along with the demo party ... feminist must like to suffer and apparently want to continue to do so.
Damn good idea. Over any working career the stock market would yield a HELL of a lot more than the current system. And that's including the impact of credit meltdowns every few decades.
Gee, are there people who’ll vote for Obama just cuz he’s (sorta) “black”?
In an era of identity politics, this is an easy question to answer.
What most Europeans don’t know, or pretend to know, about America or Americans could fill the oceans of the world.
More than a few, check out www.pumapac.org, www.uppitywoman08.wordpress.com, www.chicagoansagainstobama.wordpress.com, http://pub36.bravenet.com/3009070907 (Hillary supporters for McCain) and there are a lot more.

Sounds like the press can see liberal defeat from their Ivory Tower and are unhappy.
you beat me to the same point ;-)
Heres several millions (minimum) of Hillary supporters for McCain, PUMAs, etc..

Take a look around these sites for a half hour or 45 minutes....(there are hundreds more linked to these, just look for links)
"PALIN: They're our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska."
EXCERPTS: Charlie Gibson Interviews Sarah Palin
ABC did their own factcheck, dinged her on two but conceded that this one was true.
But not that that lie is out of the barn, everybody is running with it. Somebody ought to take the Guardian to task for it.
You deny that there are Hillary delegates for McCain?
Yes,
There certainly are some. Just like the blacks who are voting Fauxbama simply because he’s black, there are women who are going to vote for Palin simply because she’s a woman, regardless of her political stands.
Remember, Democrats foster identity politics, and those that are likely to vote for a woman simply because she is a woman, are more likely to be a D in the first place. Will it be Millions? Nope, but to say 10%ish of the Hillary Voters will vote Palin? Certainly not unreasonable to expect, and 10% is a significant number of voters.
I guess you haven't read the HRC blog recently then?
They are almost unanimous in their support of Sarah.
Sorta like it’s hard to believe that 90%+ of blacks are voting for Obama, but they’re not racists.
You are so negative. I wonder if that is why you and Palin don’t connect— you see life so differently.
I think many Americans are connecting the fiasco to the Democrats as they should. Since in 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2005 Republicans and even the Bush administration sounded the warning on FannieMae that started this ball rolling but as obstructionists the Democrats like Frank fought it.
I have no second thoughts and I personally know several Democrats who were for Hillary who love Palin, but then they are upbeat people.
Why is it you are FR if you are so unhappy with McCain? I know you are registered for some time, but I just wonder. There are numerous DU sites.
The MarketMeltdown is catapulting Obie into the White House.
Though, on the topic of Hillary, you’d have been surprised at some of the sentiments expressed here concerning her and her supporters.
As many FR’ers said, I can’t believe I’m saying nice things about her.
Well, as Joni said, you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone.
