Democrats To Raise McCain Associations To Keating, Others (Singlaub)
Marc Ambinder ^ | 10-5-08

Democratic surrogates say they've been given the go-ahead from the Obama campaign to mention John McCain's associations with S&L kingpin Charles Keating and other historically tarnished creatures when asked about Obama's connection to ex-Weatherman William Ayers.

A senior Democrat who has had contact with Obama's high command points to Democratic strategist Paul Begala's comments on this morning's Meet the Press.

Begala noted that McCain once "sat on the board of a very right wing organization," the U.S. Council for World Freedom, led by a retired Army Maj. General named John Singlaub. The Anti-Defamation League allegedly called the CWF's parent organization a gathering place for racists and anti-Semites.

I live in a largely minority city in California that I fear will seriously riot if he loses and maybe only a little in “celebration” if he wins.

The bottom line is that Pol Pot, Castro, Mao and Lenin were all complete and utter failures that cost and continue to cost many innocent lives and artificially create poverty in lands with many resources...for a flawed thought process called Communism.

Many blacks that I have heard first hand have Dr. King superimposed/juxtaposed against Obama as if he is the Lord Jesus who will bring them out of poverty and make them rich...

Obama wants to rig the system to increase welfare and social services, the “civilian corps”, amnesty for illegals (same as McCain) as well as slave reparations.

The Global Poverty Act will give $800 billion to the 3rd World over 13 years...who decided to up the ante that much to the country that already gives the most?

Bottom line: Obama is fading due to Palin, not McAmnesty who prides himself on being Ted Kennedy in drag...

I may get in trouble with some Freepers, but secretly I believe most conservatives are pulling for McCain with the perverse thought (which was raised in the VP debate) that the old Navy pilot passes away and we have a person who will not back off logic and will fight for “us” not the jackass Liberals.

but from the looks of things at realclearpolitics and every poll I've seen, it's over.

Well great, now that you've settled that, why don't you give us your pick for the Kentucky Derby?

Terrifying video. Explosive. I didn’t know the extent to which his cousin, Odinga, was a rabid socialist tyrant and violent monster, and the visit Obama made to help this radical’s cause.

Dear Sweet Lord ... to think that the level of racial violence and slaughter in Kenya could come here. God save us. Thank you for posting.

Has this video been posted as a thread here?

Oh please, if the polls were going the other way you’d be mocking the Obama people because it’s over. No Pollyanna crap—if you think polls don’t indicate the trend against our side, you’re dreamin’.

I’m convinced that was always the plan, no matter what.
Lowlifes.

That tends to turn people off, though. It could end up biting them.

I hope it's not too little, too late, but from the looks of things at realclearpolitics and every poll I've seen, it's over.

With all due respect, it's not over for 29 days.

Not saying it's going to, but anything can happen in 29 days.

I know that's the positive way of looking at things, but I'm a realist who tends toward pessimism. :P

Yeah, it's not over for 29 days, but don't tell me you wouldn't rather McCain have Obama's numbers.

We all make guesses about the future. You're making one with your comment. I am, too--no one's claiming to be able to predict the future. But I have a lot more evidence for my opinion, I think, than those who think McCain's gonna pull this out.

For me, the only poll that I take seriously is Zogby, to me he has the most to lose by being inaccurate especially after completely blowing the exit polls in 2004.

He has Obama up 4%.

I didn't tell you that. Where did I tell you that?

I've watched the media lie, twist and distort, close up and personla for five years. I know the tricks.

I didn't make a guess. In fact, I clarified my statement with "Not saying it's going to..." All I did was point out that the election is not for 29 days and that anything can happen in those 29 days. That's not a guess.

I have made no predictions on here in either direction. I have only expressed my support for one side.

There’s a couple of threads about the video, search Odinga it should come up. I’m “spamming” the video everywhere here and in emails, etc. I really hope Drudge and Hannity pick it up.

Fine, you don't have a prediction, I do. Why are you even bothering commenting to me if you have nothing to say?

Geez, lighten up.

I'm very lighthearted.

Why are you even bothering commenting to me if you have nothing to say?

I have plenty to say. I just don't allow others to put their words in my mouth. No big deal. It's just not a good foundation for a discussion.

Perhaps it is not I who needs to lighten up. ;-)

The bottom line is that Pol Pot, Castro, Mao and Lenin were all complete and utter failures that cost and continue to cost many innocent lives and artificially create poverty in lands with many resources...for a flawed thought process called Communism.

Maj. Gen. John Singlaub has fought against Totalitarian governments his whole life. The book review below is from amazon.com.

A fast-paced, though often rigidly ideological, account of ``covert operations'' by a 40-year veteran of the intelligence battles of the cold war. Singlaub, who served with the legendary OSS in WW II and then with the early CIA, describes military and intelligence missions in Nazi-occupied France, and in China, Korea, Vietnam, and Nicaragua. Singlaub makes clear his own view of the significance of these missions--he was always a soldier, often playing a heroic role, in America's just war against ruthless Communist aggression. Singlaub appears to view geopolitical issues, even in the wake of glasnost and perestroika, in terms of a battle between the forces of darkness, led the Communist world, and the forces of light, led by America. Whether one accepts this view or not, Singlaub's account of intelligence operations--written with the help of novelist/journalist McConnell (Into the Mouth of the Cat, 1984, etc.)--make for fascinating reading, particularly his description of contacting French resistance leaders prior to D-Day, working on the Nationalist side during the Chinese Revolution, and managing the secret war along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. The author demonstrates that, through four decades of service, his world view and his devotion to his duty as he sees it have remained constant. A firsthand perspective on America's long secret war against Communism, rendered by one of its primary combatants. (Sixteen pages of b&w photographs--not seen.) -- Copyright ©1991, Kirkus Associates, LP. All rights reserved.

Printed in 1992, Amazon has five new copies left for sale: Hazardous Duty (Paperback)

There are 33 copies available in the New & Used

I hope they do try to sling mud on Singlaub -- it'll backfire. Bigtime! He's a true red, white, and blue Patriot.

Excellent, after all of the gloom and doom, it is a touch refreshing to have some hope for a change.

I do think that folks need to keep in mind the purpose of negative campaigning, it is not a panacea at all, it is designed to drive down the oppositions approval numbers via Advertisements.

The MSM knows this, and they know how vulnerable they have made Obama to this line of attack by not completely investigating his background.

Anywho, when the little old lady at the grocery store mentions what a stinker Obama is, that is when you will know the Ayers/Wright line of ads has worked.

for me, I think it is sooo crucial that:

1. The Palin Rallies seize headlines and jazz up the base
2. We have a plan to capitialize on any approval drops for Obama.
3. What sort of actions are initiated after a Gov Palin Rally, are volunteers signing up? Do Republican Registrations move upwards?

I adore the fact that Obamao is jealous of Gov Palin’s crowds, but are they accomplishing anything?
