Barack Obama's allies warn that John McCain's attacks on the Democrat's character will lead to the political equivalent of mutual assured destruction: fire your big weapon at your own peril.
The warnings of massive retaliation came as McCain's running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, took on the role of attacker and said that Obama sees America as so imperfect "that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country." She was referring to an early Obama supporter, 1960s radical Bill Ayers, a founder of the Weather Underground whose members were blamed for several bombings when Obama was a child.

Me thinks that Palin’s comments are hitting the mark and beginning to sting.
I say, keep the pedal to the metal and slam him early and often...keep it up. Tie him to his terrorist buddies. Pull no punches.

This ‘mutually assured destruction’ threat from Camp Obama must mean that the Obama thinks their political destruction is at hand....lol! Sounds like an admission to me.

Bring it. Keeting has already been very well vetted. Ayers never has...but now he is going to be and it's going to leave a mark...a huge welted, red, angry, weeping mark.
McCain himself, through his campaign, made it pretty clear today what he intends to do about this. BRAVO!.
The last four weeks of this election will be about whether the American people are willing to turn our economy and national security over to Barack Obama, a man with little record, questionable judgment, and ties to radical figures like unrepentant domestic terrorist William Ayers. Americans need to ask themselves if theyve ever befriended an unrepentant terrorist, or had a convicted felon help them buy their house because those arent smears, those are true facts about Barack Obama. Tucker Bounds, spokesman McCain-Palin 2008

The real question is what the American people will do...and with Sarah out there all over the country, that is becoming more and more clear with each passing day.
