Gee, I wonder what they’re gonna talk about?
It’s been running for years under the name of “The Nightly News”
I was speaking about the broader trend to turn news and political ideals into the entertainment business. In order to do that you need to reduce things into memorable sound bites—something that most issues are too complex to benefit from.
Be sure to notify the FEC about these contributions of airtime to the Obama campaign.
Too bad McCain can’t get equal time.
Perhaps this will be the final death knell for ‘Saturday Night Dead’. Perhaps this will be the final groos out for the American People from The Prince of Perversion Lorne Micheals, and his cast of Thriller, “Comic talent”.
MadTV’s political skits are just awful. Bobby Lee not lifting his arms and looking a hundred years old...Ardin as robotic, high-haired Cindy McCain is unfunny as well. And I normally like whatever Nicole Parker does, but her Sarah Palin is not laughable it’s like an imitation any schmoe would do.
I guess this means Tina Fey will meet her mortgage payments after all...
All of this to knock McCain and Palin.
That Fey woman doesn’t even remind me one bit of Sarah.
Losers.
What? Tina looks just like her. Amazing. It was funny this past weekend. They have been hitting BOTH sides of the fence.
With that said, it will prob end up being one big AD for Obama.
SNL and NBC cannot pull 70,000,000+ viewers in the same way that Sarah can. Give it up, SNL and NBC. Y’all are far from relevant!
Wow, trying to blur the lines of real news with comic fantasy. They’re throwing the kitchen sink into this now. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
Well, I know that many FReepers are not happy with SNL over their Sarah Palin sketches, but the show has been pretty decent for going on three years now, and very timely, politically speaking. Comedienne Kristin Wiig absolutely skewered Nancy Pelosi as Speaker Of The House, before she was even sworn in (Palomino! Palomino!). That little guy on SNL, can never remember his name, does a lethally snooty Obama, and an absolutely hilarious, nearly unintelligble and blustery Barney Frank, true to life. Amy Poehler’s Hillary is a little weak, but she’s not spared satire. They do get their digs in, as far as Democrats go, which is a positive change. Their “Weekend Update” segment is still just as leftist as any MSM news broadcast, though.
I seldom watch SNL past the opening monologue, but did last night. The skit with Pelosi, Franks and the “people affected by the sub-prime mortgage mess” was pretty on point. And when Soros was brought to microphone, captioned as the owner of the Democratic party, I nearly fell off of the couch laughing. Surprise often causes hilarity.
They been funny in the past Renee have you see them do George W bush and John Kerry look on YOU TUBE that funny LOL!
They are cashing in on Sarah Palin. People love her and can’t get enough of her and these people know it. She is ratings gold.
Yes, Frank C did pretty well as GWB, and Michael McDonald made Kerry the total bore that he was. They had their political skits from the past show yesterday and replayed the Kerry/Bush debate. It was funny.
But it’s gone downhill. Obama and Michelle are always hip and hot and John and Cindy are like something out the Elizabethan period, and McCain isn’t presented as all that bright and downright decrepit. Parker totally misses as Sarah Palin.
I’ll take a good old Stewy skit any day.
I disagree. The American public is that stupid.
Pelosi, Reid, McCain, Obama.
Unless something major happens in the next 4 weeks we will have Obomba as President and a larger majority in the House and Senate. And if he loses, we’ll have McCain in the White House.
These are not the signs of high intelligence.
