Virginia Republicans are warning that John McCain's prospects for winning a state that has been in the GOP column in every presidential election since 1964 could be in jeopardy. With Barack Obama treating the Old Dominion like a battleground state and reliable polls showing a margin-of-error race there, some are cautioning that McCain is making a critical mistake by allowing the Democratic nominee to outpace him in terms of visits and resources committed....
Together, McCain and his running mate, Sarah Palin, have held just one campaign event in Virginia. And the campaign has taken its ads off the pricey Washington, D.C. network affiliates that reach into the entire swath of the Northern Virginia, the commonwealths most populous region....

shut up and work harder VA GOP
You’re such a ray of sunshine around here. No really, I mean it. Seriously. I do, really. I’m not even kidding.
Mac / Palin had better step their campaigns in OH, FL, NC, NH, and VA.
and another doomsday thread from Mr. Sunshine.
I saw one “young man” outside the Sully VA mall playing “steal the vote” yesterday.
Register, Absentee ballot, Vote for Obama. one right after another.
I live in MS, but am registered in VA.
Lets just say that I’m very glad that I am.
All of a sudden VA has become fly over country.
I swear GOP has started to mean: gloomy old party
We are working hard in VA but I’m going to tell people something. Obama had several dozen people cavasing for him in Chester VA. Granted I don’t think they are making up any ground but we had 3. I heard Obama is paying some of the canvasers but still it should be embarassing. Giving up a Saturday morning shouldn’t be so difficult. Obama is not making up any ground in Central Virginia but the GOP needs to more. The Senate race is a good example. Jim Gilmore could win this race if he had more money. He’s closed 7 points against Warner and needs to close another 14 by election day but where is the national GOP for solid strong conservatives like Gilmore, like Steve Pearce. No where. It is sickening. Where are the ads reminding stupid conservatives who don’t feel threatened voting for Udall and Warner about the Supreme Court? Where are the pro-life ads in Virginia? The national party is a party of fools, they don’t seem to know a damn thing about CRM and targeting voters like customers. I just wish they’d coordinate talking points. That alone would be helpful.
Well I’m not giving up VA without a fight. I’m going to be out there till election day.
We have all got to vote people. This is shaping up to be as tight a race as there has ever been.
If McCain worked as hard at winning as you do trying to post negative news about him, he'd carry all 57 states.
This site is in the tank for bambi...let them believe bambi is way ahead....that will work well for McCain. Let ‘em believe their own lies.
That’s three stories of this nature in as many days from the Politico.
has he been counted out before...? just sayin’....
I don’t see any more evidence of Obama enthusiasm today than I saw four years ago for Kerry yet more McCain/Palin stickers and signs than were Bush/Cheney.
The only thing that concerns me was an earlier thread where the Obama supporters were trained to be ‘ruthless’ in their efforts. That to me means ‘by any means necessary’ including fraud.
I find it especially interesting that the McCain strategist quoted compared VA to PA. In 2004 PA was 2.5 points in favor of the Dems, while VA was about 9 points in favor of the GOP.
McCain has solidified support among veterans, but he's in danger of losing VA? Doesn't make sense. I think this is a set-up, trying to get Obama to dump even more time and money into the Old Dominion. Which means less for PA, WI, NH and other vulnerable blue states.
Guess we'll know in a month.
