Next president will be handed a fragile economy

WASHINGTON – Even with the $700 billion bailout, the financial crisis and fragile economy promise to loom large over the opening days of the next administration.

Dealing with the housing and credit problems that President Bush says will take "some time" to clean up could threaten the economic policies advanced by Democratic Barack Obama and Republican John McCain.

Obama acknowledges "the next president will have to scale back his agenda and some of his proposals." Yet neither camp is eager to say precisely what changes might have to be made — promises broken or delayed.

Obama's running mate, Sen. Joe Biden, was questioned about that in Thursday's vice presidential debate. He could list only a few: cutting wasteful spending and "we might have to slow down a commitment we made to double foreign assistance."

Has anybody thought about which foreign country it is that is screwing with our economy? China perhaps?

This is just laying groundwork so that, if their boy Obama gets in, every disaster he brings about can be brought up in the context that he was handed this problem - in much the same way that Jennifer Granholm has spent the last eight years blaming first Engler then Bush. If Dems screw up, they blame a Pub and the press carries their water for them.

McCain needs to tie the Dems to Fannie/Freddie which led to the bailout and then point out that if his opponent is elected there will be even more trillion dollar spending increases. Don’t like the government growing so big? Well, don’t vote for the Democrat.

Fairly straightforward. Hopefully McCain won’t find a way to screw this line of attack up.

Fannie and Freddie is a prime example of Obama’s naive approach to DC. He took a crapload of money from Fannie/Freddie and did nothing while they managed to put the entire global economy on the brink of disaster. McCain pointed this out however many years ago. Fannie and Freddie are a prime example of Washington DC working against the “public interest” in order to enrich the few. This is a Democrat scandal. This is a political campaign. Screw the bipartisanship nonsense, McCain, and go after those scumbags.

No one is screwing with our economy, we are getting the comeuppance for living beyond our means (as a nation) for so long. Yes China holds our debt—but they didn’t do it to screw with us, we begged them to buy it.

O'Reilly tells Frank:

Youre there for two years stocks drop 90%. In private industry you would be out. In any private concern youre out on your A**. But not here in the federal govt. you come in and make every excuse in the world etc.

Bush: Been there, done that.

What you say could be very well true. Dem Governors in OR, ME, IL, WI, MI, and MA have crappy approval ratings, yet still get re-elected.

Should Hussein be President (sick), I don’t he will scale back on his big govt programs. After all, IL, MA, and OR have problems with budget deficits, but the Dem Governors of those states are still expanding govt programs.

No question the US economy is tittering and regardless of who gets elected I see rough times ahead. However, Obama and a Democratic Congress will go on an orgy of new spending and taxes that will quickly create economic chaos. I expect 14% unemployment, near double digit inflation and an 8,000 Dow at the end of the first year of Obama’s administration. We may be looking back at Bush’s administration as relatively good times.

Heads up - this could turn the tide.
FOX is rerunning “Saving the Economy...” at 2 EST this afternoon and again at 10:00pm and again at 1:00 in the morning.

They ran it 3 times yesterday.

If you haven’t seen it, you MUST. It is a TOTAL take-down on the demRats regarding the Fannie/Freddie economic debacle.

It names names, shows clips, shows how Bush sounded the alarm and tried to get it reigned it, how the republicans tried to and had hearings - to be shouted down by the demRats and defeated with all demRats voting against, all pubs voting for reigning it in - led by barney and Dodd and Shuckster, how the 2 biggest recipients of the Fannie/Freddie were Dodd and Obama - how a ‘young community organizer, years ago, in Chicago, worked with ACORN to push through these loans for even NO income people - a young community organizer named BO -

This whole program is a total and stark expose laying out who - the demRats - brought this all about and how they blocked every effort by the Republicans to reign it in.

If you have not seen this program - you must. I pray they keep airing this until Nov. It may just wake some people up.
It’s an issue that all America is paying attention to, finally. This program shows them who orchestrated the whole fiasco.

I could hardly believe my ears when I heard it last night. Incredible. So far, I haven’t heard a peep of ‘outrage’ from the left. I think this scares them to death and they hope it will just go away.

I think there’s going to be some major investigations although, if we don’t give mcC/Sarah a majority in the Senate and House to work with, it won’t matter if barney et al are found absolutely guilty - they will NOT be forced to step down. Take the case of william “cold cash” jefferson, for ex.

email everyone you know to watch this and email FOX with KUDOS - the more response, the more they’ll air it.

Have you forgotten that it was Obama and his party/cronies who laid the groundwork for the 850 billion dollar bailout. Let’s not separate Obama from the current mess . .
