With the news that the McCain campaign is launching a full assault on Obama's associates, preparedness, and judgment in a TV ad campaign to start Wednesday -- as detailed in this morning's Washington Post -- the Obama campaign is planning a pre-emptive assault on the TV airwaves to start Monday.
Gov. Sarah Palin got the ball rolling this morning, going after Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., for his association with Professor William Ayers, a former member of the radical group the Weather Underground, saying Obama "is someone who sees America it seems as being so imperfect, imperfect enough that hes palling around with terrorists who would target their own country."
The McCain campaign said that its new TV ads would focus on Obama's associations with Ayers and real estate developer Tony Rezko, recently convicted on corruption charges.
"We are looking for a very aggressive last 30 days," McCain adviser Greg Strimple told the Post. "We are looking forward to turning a page on this financial crisis and getting back to discussing Mr. Obama's aggressively liberal record and how he will be too risky for Americans."
The Obama campaign plans on taking Strimple's expressed desire to "turn...a page on this financial crisis" against McCain, to characterize all attacks on Obama as desperation to change the subject.
As first reported by Politico's Mike Allen Saturday evening, Obama has a new TV ad, too, that says: "Three quarters of a million jobs lost this year. Our financial system in turmoil. And John McCain? Erratic in a crisis. Out of touch on the economy. No wonder his campaign wants to change the subject. 'Turn the page on the financial crisis' by launching dishonorable, dishonest assaults against Barack Obama. Struggling families can't turn the page on this economy, and we can't afford another president who is this out of touch."
Go ahead, punk...make my day!
Did McCAIN received his dose of Stamina given by S.PALIN ?
He must shoot faster and stronger right on the target
On (Cleveland) television today a Democratic operative pointed out that when Obama holds a rally 25-30,000 people show up, whereas when McCain holds one he only draws 10-15,000.
The Republican spokesman replied, ‘That’s because McCain’s
supporters are at work.’
I hope the campaign is giving McCain some testosterone shots this weekend while he’s off resting because he desparately needs it.
Sarah is doing great but she’s the VP nominee.
Barry O, like the rest of the rat bastards, just don’t have original thoughts. They are pretty good at imitation.
It's the preemptive strike video.
That ad is going to upset a lot of people and make McCain stronger.
She is. She drew over 22K at a home depot in Carson, Ca. yesterday. They expected 8K
When the market was collapsing, and wall street was in a panic. Obama was in Hollywood with the rich and famouse, rolling in the money. Talk about being out of touch. McCain went to Washington, Obama went to the rich mans party. Need I say more?
That's it? That's the pre-emptive attack? Suddenly I'm feeling better about McCain's prospects. I mean there are attacks and then there is the truth. Voters may not care for attacks but they do listen to the truth and I think the "pals," of either candidate are relevant. Maybe John McCain has lobbyist buddies, but NONE of them ever tried to blow up the Capitol and regret not doing enough harm to this very day.
I think Americans are fair and if this was a fling Obama had decades ago they'd dismiss it, but Obama is still pals with these guys. Telling voters about this buried information is a public service not an attack.
So, they’re going to spend the next 30 days blaming McCain for the economic mess? O’Biden will solve it?
McCain had better start explaining how Obama was right in the middle of creating that mess, with Tony Rezko, Franklin Raines, his old Communist advisors, and his pals and donors at Fannie Mae, not to speak of Goldman Sachs.
Otherwise, McCain is toast.
My bad, you are correct. She draws in the crowds
I read somewhere that McCain has forbidden the use of Wright in any ads. I have no idea if what I read is true or not...I’m just saying....
Not true. Just his campaign.
