A DAY IN THE LIFE OF PRESIDENT BUSH...10/04/08, 10/05/08
various | daisyscarlett

President Bush delivered his weekly radio address today. The subject was, once again, the economy.

The President and First Lady are spending the weekend at their ranch in Crawford TX. Today, they took a short trip to Midland TX where they visited his boyhood home. They also attended a barbecue fund raiser for several Texans running for Congress.

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice held talks Saturday in India on a visit to showcase a landmark bilateral nuclear deal, but last-minute hitches derailed the scheduled signing of the pact.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

daisyscarlett: THANK YOU for posting the DOSE tonight . . . I’m soooooooooo happy that the President and First Lady are spending their weekend in Texas . . . As the President said in his remarks today, ““We’ve got a couple more hard months to go . . .” — the challenges have never stopped for this President; thank goodness he has his family and his Texas!

PRESIDENT RAISES MONEY FOR NOV 4 ELECTIONS, VISITS BOYHOOD HOME
Accompanied by first lady, he says ‘values didn’t change’ during administration ending in January
By Bob Campbell

President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush returned to their hometown on the glistening blue and white Air Force One jetliner Saturday to see old friends at the northwest Midland home of Congressman Mike Conaway and his wife Suzanne and, somewhat surprisingly, to visit the president’s boyhood home near downtown. (Watch video of the president’s arrival here.)

After 15 minutes inside the restored three bedroom house at 1412 W. Ohio Ave., Bush came outside in bright sunshine at 1:30 p.m. “It’s an amazing experience to come back to a place where you were raised,” he said.

“This is the first time I have been back since I’ve been the president and it is a very heartwarming experience. I told my friends here when I left that I wasn’t going to change as a person in the politics of Washington. I think they appreciate that.

. . . Former Commerce Secretary Don Evans and his wife Susan hosted the National Republican Congressional Committee events. As Air Force One approached from the north on the windy, sandy day, Evans said the visit “will in some ways be a day down memory lane.

“I’m sure the president’s mind will wander back to when he played Little League Baseball and learned what it was like to be involved in the community. He wants to say ‘thanks’ for all the calls, letters and messages of support during the 7 1/2 years he has been in Washington.”

. . . “He has had a tough hand to play and has played it well. There are things he wishes he could have accomplished, particularly Social Security reform. But he has advanced the cause of freedom. When it comes to America, there is nothing more important than to advance freedom not only here at home but also around the world.

“The president has stood tall in difficult times. I think historians will record that he had the courage to make the toughest decisions anybody could ever have to think about making and stayed with them when he knew he was doing the right thing.”

I don’t have the kind of money that gets you into those kinds
of fund-raisers! LOL!

being away from the ratrace!

This one is even smaller.
It's the FIRST Bush home, when they moved
from back east to Texas, and it's
been moved from it's original location
to our Presidential Museum.
It is 2 bedroom, one bath, and GW was an only
child when they lived in it...here in Odessa.
There is a little statue out front of 4-year old GW
on his tricycle. LOL!

Well, he sounded like any 4-year old! And he was a cutie, too! I think he was a bit spoiled, to tell the truth.

This house has the original bathtub. When I saw it, I couldn’t
help but think...2 presidents have been in there! LOL!

“The president has stood tall in difficult times".

Amen Deb!

We may not have agreed with him on every dot & diddle but we KNOW he is a man of his convictions & one of those convictions is the well being & safety of America. Thank God for President Bush & his tenure as the leader of America & the free world.

And thanks to you Deb for your daily, continual providing of information along the way to inform & enrich.

Thank you daisy.. this is a refreshing dose knowing the president is on his home turf & with people who LIKE & SUPPORT him. I am sure there is a bit of a lump in his soul each time he must return to the garbage in DC

Your coverage of Sarah, Condi & the president’s activities is great!

Hi Seven.. by crib do you mean the house? ( I kept looking for crib pix!)

It is always nice to see you. You bring some interesting info & clever posts (well, okay sometimes a little “crusty”)

Did I read recently that you are originally from Austria? How long have you been in US?

Well, glad you are here with us !
