Pitbull Palin Mauls McCain
NY Times ^ | Frank Rich

Posted on 10/04/2008 3:17:17 PM PDT by Chet 99

-snip-

Palin is an antidote to the whiny Republican image that Frank nailed. Alaska’s self-styled embodiment of Joe Sixpack is not a sulker, but a pistol-packing fighter. That’s why she draws the crowds and (as she puts it) “energy” that otherwise elude the angry McCain. But she is still the candidate for vice president, not president. Americans do not vote for vice president.

So how can a desperate G.O.P. save itself? As McCain continues to fade into incoherence and irrelevance, the last hope is that he’ll come up with some new game-changing stunt to match his initial pick of Palin or his ill-fated campaign “suspension.” Until Thursday night, more than a few Republicans were fantasizing that his final Hail Mary pass would be to ditch Palin so she can “spend more time” with her ever-growing family. But the debate reminded Republicans once again that it’s Palin, not McCain, who is their last hope for victory.

You have to wonder how long it will be before they plead with him to think of his health, get out of the way and pull the ultimate stunt of flipping the ticket. Palin, we can be certain, wouldn’t even blink.

I would vote for a flipped ticket.

"... the angry McCain."

Frank Rich is such a venomous, and predictable, little poof.

“only hope” was to ditch Palin, eh? Dream on!

Palin “mauls” McCain? Sarah Palin is about the only person I’ve ever been able to see combine the maverick image with a conservative message with the conservative message becoming an afterthought. And judging from McCains reaction, he loves it. He knows she is his ticket to the WH.

It was his ticket to the White House. I was ready to vote for him. Palin brought me from indifferent to enthusiastic. The Bailout converted me to disgust.

McCain has turned out to be as politically tonedeaf as I had suspected....”working in a bipartisann fashion”...”reaching across the aisle”...”my good friend”...etc. I’ll vote for him anyway because the alternative is unthinkable, and because a true conservative will be a heartbeat away.

TOO LATE!! He could have "CEMENTED" the election by opposing the pork/earmarks-laden Senate Bill and showed all he was a "Real" maverick and taken his case directly to the people explaining why he could not support it.

Just like he REFUSES to challenge the DummyCrats who are MOSTLY responsible for this debacle.

I bet if it were mostly Republicans he'd attack them in a NY minute.

He is an F'n phony, 2-bit, entrenched member of his exclusive "Club" and the proof is that he or his handlers REFUSED to turn Sarah loose and instead had her Wall St instead of the Congress.

The ONLY reason I will vote for him is Sarah!!!!

Who’s running with a chance to win who was opposed to the bailout? Just curious.

I still think any outlet that calls itself news and then shows bias should be sued and forced to display a disclaimer before every program.

I would hate to see Yawn, I mean John, have to drop out because of his “health”, but if something terrible were to happen, Sarah’s ambition and people skills combined with Mitt’s executive and economic experience.... well I’m just saying.

First Frank Rich was the NYTimes theater critic. Then when he flopped at that, he was their movie critic. Then when he flopped at that, they made him an OpEd writer. Then when he flopped at that, they locked him in the closet and only let him out once a month.

Hey, time to give him a new job description. Maybe he could take orders for coffee and latte around the office?

“I would vote for a flipped ticket.”

Heck, I’d vote for FLIPPER if it would keep Obama out of the White House.
