Angry police union members chased away MWRA workers in Everett and Revere today citing safety concerns in the first test of the state’s new rules on road details.

In Everett, union members and reporters and cameramen surrounded a two-person crew from the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority that showed up to perform routine maintenance inside a manhole at 11:30 a.m.

After several conversations with union members, the MWRA crew left without doing any work. (continued)

Today was the first day of worksites without police duties (like every other state in the country) and the Police unions are already strong-arming the workers and crying fowl. So, when do we call in the National Guard?

Patrick should call in the guard then call a presser saying that the police departments need to remember who they work for and that their attempts at intimidation will not be tolerated. No one will arrest these guys but perhaps a lawsuit should be filed against the union or perhaps federal charges should be sought?

Say No to cop welfare.

I don’t care, I want two cops on every worksite.

The more they hang around worksites, the less they’re going to harass the rest of us.

Deval needs to read up on Calvin Coolidge’s 1st term as governor of Mass. He could handle police strikes.

To protected and serve.

Or to harass with nerve?

Dear Gov. Patrick,

In 1991, shortly after receiving my driver's license, a MA cop who didn't like the speed at which I was driving ran me off the road and handed me a bill at gunpoint.

Because the cops see no need to obey the law, the same should apply to me. Please send the $50 refund (~$70 in 2008 dollars) to me, and the car insurance surcharge refund to my parents.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Freedom_no_exceptions, Esq.
