WASHINGTON (AFP) US President George W. Bush on Friday signed a mammoth economic rescue package aimed at saving troubled US banks and easing a credit crunch that he warned could spell disaster for the US public.
After campaigning for the bailout for two weeks and courting reluctant lawmakers in person and by telephone, Bush signed the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 before leaving Washington for the weekend.

The man who smirked his way into office, promising to be the next Ronald Reagan, leaves whimpering, the new Jimmy Carter.
After first opposing less than ten billion for health care for children and then ponying up 700 billion for friends on Wall Street, the GOP hasn't a philosophic leg to stand on in opposition to more social spending.
The moment President Palin or a GOP law maker argues we can't afford an expensive social program, someone will whisper, "Wall Street bailout," and any debate will summarily end.
Which goes to prove whoever is President had better have some testicles...and right now the only one who appears to have any of those is Mrs. Palin.

Tried to turn the USA into Mexifornia
Made futile attempt to fix Social Security and Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac
MIA on mortgage fraud/investment and signed an “American Bankruptcy” bill.
I respect the guy.
But his legacy may end up being a very mixed and mostly sad one.
You need to do a little homework.
