I know my history...probably moreso than yourself. Other than his POW years McCain has shown absolutely no leadership unless you consider McCain-Feingold a standard bearer. Perhaps it's his leadership on stopping the invasion of illegals from our southern borders you like....or is the pandering to LaRaza that excited you. Perhaps you're enjoying the taxpayer supported medicines or is it the government cheese you love so much. Are you looking for a government mortgage bailout for yourself that excites you?

Face it...McCain has once again sold out the conservative base...the very base he needed to pull off an election win. I guess you think that involvement in the Keating 5 is a badge of honor. You're clueless my Friend.

Our elected officials are selling all of us down the river. I have enough insight to recognize that regardless of who is elected president we're screwed. You've been served up the "crap sandwich" and washing it down with a iced urine spritzer. I may be young but I'm not stupid. Bon Appetite...I'll pass on this meal.

“However, he is much better than Obama”

That’s an understatement. As flawed as he is, McCain is a FAR sight better than b. hussein.

McCain hasn’t lost my vote, but my vote has gone from a vote FOR McCain to a vote AGAINST Obama.

He has deeply disappointed me tonight. I am no longer actively supporting his campaign.

McCain promised that if a pork-laden bill crossed his desk, he would veto it. A bill with more pork than the entire (insert your favorite pig metaphor here) actually crosses his desk, and he approves it. So much for that promise.

Exactly what I was thinking. Extremely disappointing, to say the least. I don't really have any satisfactory candidate to vote for this November -- but since the alternative is horrifying, I'll still be voting McCain (and hoping that Palin's more strict conservatism serves as an influencing factor and seeps into his skull a bit, though I am not holding my breath on that hope).

Hell, I’ll vote for the guy. I just won’t donate a single second of my family time to help him out, and his campaign’s approach on Palin since she set us on all fire has been pathetic.

Since I’m in Illinois, where my McCain vote couldn’t possibly tip the election, I’m seriously considering again voting third-party. Until a week ago, I would have thought I’d be voting enthusiastically for McCain, but his leadership here has been abysmal.

“this nice crap is losing him the election and I hate to say it, but maybe he should.”

I agree very much that it’s time to stop the nice guy/wimp stuff. But as for “maybe he should lose the election” - the REAL losers in that scenario would be US - America.

It’s unbelievable how most people don’t realize just what a threat to our country Obama is (because the media protects him more than any other candidate in history).

So much for this being just the Democrats' problem.

They sure found allot of help from across the aisle, from 34 Republicans.

It’s your choice. But I feel that I cannot afford to do that, simply because Obama MUST be defeated and that if I do not vote for McCain I might as well be voting for Obama.

A) “After the financial meltdown happened, people freaked and stopped buying autos.” B) “Lay off McCain; he had to do this. Go ahead and don’t vote for McCain, and get Obama. That is scary my friend.”

to A) - the word I get from my car dealer friends is that people can’t GET loans/financing right now to buy cars;
to B) - yes, yes, and yes.

That’s the reality of it.

OK, now can we all put this behind us and get on with the election? If you can't do it for McCain, do it for Palin for Christ sake.

TMD - of course, you’re right - it was Ted Kennedy. DUH on my part. Yes, 99 out of 100 were in attendance.

Did you see the Auto Sales numbers today for Sept? It wasn’t because of “tight credit”. The last 2 weeks of Sept was horrible sales wise.

The car companies are hurting because they were set up to sell cars using gas at $2 a gallon or so. Our glorious government through sheer stupidity ran the price of gas up to $4 a gallon in a very short time.

So the congressional morons just about bankrupted the auto industry, then for desert they bailed out the auto industry they just nearly destroyed with $25 Billion of taxpayers money.

Only in America can such magnificent foolishness and waste be tolerated.

That doesn't say much...almost anyone is better than a brazen Marxist.

Either conservative Republicans have very low standards, are extraordinarily desperate, or are just plain stupid. I'm not sure which of the three factored into nominating McQueeg.

I'd pass on the meal too, especially since it involves the other side trying to force feed you crap sandwiches.

What I have, I’ve earned. I’m not a braggart, so that’s all I’ll say on the matter.

As far as Sen. McCain, he never had your vote and that would not have changed regardless of his vote.

Regarding your final comments, you need to run along and wash your mouth out with soap.

“You think any Senator actually read the 450 page bill?
Highly doubtful.”

No, they didn’t have time to read it all. There was a senator on FOX (I think) a couple hours before the vote who was saying part of this bill had been passed at an earlier date. He didn’t go into details, but apparently they attached it to the bailout.

How can John McCain truly say that he’s against pork barrel spending when he voted for all of the pork that’s in this socialistic government bailout legislation?!

That’s the icing on the cake for me. McCain is acting like conservatives “have no where else to go”. Meanwhile he’ll continue to rub our faces in it.

McCain isn’t going to play me. McCain has a long history of disrespecting us. And I’m not falling for scare tactics.

There are principled alternatives to either of these guys. I intend to vote for one of them.
