Lou Dobbs(of the Commie News Network) is a well-paid rabble-rouser, nothing more and nothing less. IMHO, of course.
Is it too late for McCain to step down in favor of Romney?
You seem to assume that McCain is “really” against the bailout but had to vote for it because of expediency. The truth is is that he was FOR the bailout even when the polls showed that the vast majority of Americans were against it. As a result, only one point of view was represented in the MSM (and the last debate) If, on the other hand, McCain had opposed the bailout from the beginning, he could have helped fortify the no forces. They might still be the majority. He never even tried because he always thought the bailout was a good idea.
If McCain had gotten the message out prior to the vote, he could have voted NAY, and forced Obama to follow HIS lead in order to promote CHANGE.
McCain may have been a war hero, POW, etc. but he is a political coward.
Whatever you say, Dick.
Are you talking about his statement on earmarks? I don’t know how he’s going to handle that. I do know this, earmarks and pork are two different things, and he should have made that clear when he first started talking about it. You may be able to say no to earmarks, but you are not going to get rid of pork. If you are holding to the belief that’s going to happen, there will never be a candidate to come along that you can support.
Some keep quoting the earmarks thing and forget that he’s running on “Country First.” When I heard him say “I will make them famous and you will know their names,” I took that to mean the names of the bills with earmarks. But others took it differently, so I may be wrong.
Anyway, my own thoughts on this, he’s a senator trying to make the right decision for a country in crisis that was created by those that are out to destroy him, and some of whom helped to create this crisis for their own gain - all the while they’re propping up a known fascist, who also had a heavy hand in creating this through his threats against financial institutions while representing ACORN.
We all know the sinister side of the dems, and particularly BHO, and we’re well-aware of their plans for this country. That alone should be enough to make us crawl over broken glass to vote for McCain. There’s a world of difference between John Sidney McCain and Barack Hussein Obama, and if folks would be honest, they know it to be true. Be disappointed, but don’t give up. To do that gives them victory.
Just look at how the two men have handled this. BHO has taken credit all along the way. McCain has been silent. BHO made a campaign speech from the floor of the Senate, promising that this bailout package is the beginning and not the end, and saying he wants to go further in protecting main street. McCain didn’t politicize it. He took the high road and he’s being lambasted for it.
I do understand about wanting him to fight and call these people out, but some things are best left to surrogates.
We don’t know all the details of this bill and/or ramifications of doing nothing, as there are dozens of so-called experts on either side of the issue that are even contradicting each other. But I trust he’s doing what he believes to be the best thing for the country, even if he loses the election.
As for how could he lose by voting against it...you know the answer to that. It would not matter how he voted, the MSM/dems would skewer him...if he votes for it, they have him on the earmarks quote....if he votes against it, what happened to “Country First.” It’s already happening. Just look around here for examples. I’ve seen threads here where some say he’d better vote for it, and others say he’d better not. The man can’t win!
Also, keep in mind that a lot of non-Wall Street folks livelihoods are affected by this in a trickle-down way, and they also vote. Again, the MSM/dems would never let him live it down...he wanted old folks to lose their pensions....he wanted young families to be out on the street....he wanted businesses not to meet payroll....he wanted college students to not make tuition.....you get the picture. They own the airwaves and they wouldn’t let up.
Regarding the additions to the Senate bill, I heard a senator today who said that many parts of this bill, not sure what those are, had previously been approved by the Senate, so he could not insist that those be taken out.
Don’t lose sight of the fact that this crisis was on the horizon, as Pres. Bush, John McCain, and others have tried to warn for years. Is it beyond reason to believe that it was manipulated into happening at a time of their choosing by those that have the power to do so? I believe it was, and we’re seeing the fallout that they were trying to achieve. We’ve been sucker-punched and it hurts, but we have to realize how important this election is and fight on.
Every once in a while he gets to the right of most FReepers. That;s what I like about the guy. He’s not scared to call Obama a fool which isn’t a phrase that I have heard on Fox. Yeah, he can get to ranting like Glenn Beck does.
I e-mailed boyj of them this morning. I pretty much concluded my e-mails with your sentiments to the appropriate ones. I was politer, but now I wish I was’nt. Hell, I got out of California to get away from the lefty thumb suckers surrounding me there -— I am now extremely disappointed in these spineless whores, especially considering the showing my GOP congresscritter made on Monday.
Played??? Hell, we just got rolled to the tune of $800Bil, buddy.
McCain just lost my vote.
WOW, I didn’t think I’d say that.
“The bottom line is that both Obama and McCain suck. However, McCain sucks somewhat less than Obama.”
That’s just it. I can’t see voting 3rd party on this. Obama is just to damn scary.
The audacity...
In the senate this evening, Diane Feinstein said that she had received over 91,000 calls to her office, with 85,000 of those calls against the bail-out.
Feinstein said that unfortunately her constituents either didn’t understand the situation the country was in, or they didn’t understand what the bill was really all about.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jdwh_k6ne38
As an illuminated and elegant minded senator, Feinstein said it was up to her [and her fellow senators] to make difficult decisions that sometimes fly in the face of the opinion of the people they represent.
The arrogance and the condescension that spews out of D.C. is seemingly endless. The elite politicians [and those they work for] have nothing but scorn for us. We continue to be burned by those who are supposed to represent us.
You can call, and you can e.mail, but will they listen?
Obviously Feinstein and her cohorts did not.
Because THEY KNOW WHAT IS BEST FOR US, DON’T THEY?
Pray for those congressmen and women who stood strong in the House on Monday. Pray that they remain steadfast in their opposition to this unconstitutional, power-grabbing, stinking, anti-American piece of legislation.
Before it’s over that number will rise above $5 Trillion.
The classic definition of insanity is performing the same action over and over, but expecting different results. I agree that Obama will be a disaster. But I also think McCain would place a close second.
It's time to change the batter.
If the House of CarDS (credit default swaps) would have collapsed without the bailout, it's going to collapse even with it. The question is whether we want to allow 700 dollars of real money to flow into the CDS markets, to prop up the illusion of trillions of dollars in imaginary money.
No amount of money will suffice to make a pyramid scheme solvent. The more money is pumped in, the bigger the crash.
Seems I remember him nearly fumbling it in the debate, too.
Good, then we're agreed. You'll stop reperesenting the condenscending, sexist sleeezebag contingent of sidewalk surfers and stop distracting the adults that are trying to keep this country from descending into full on Marxism.
And I'll go back to ignoring you.
