Obama's Leftism

[In a remarkable piece of investigative journalism Muravchik exposes some new elements of Obama's extreme Left radicalism.] Late in his high-school career Obama found a mentor of sorts in Frank Marshall Davis, a black poet. FBI files reveal Davis to have been a member of the Communist party. Upon graduation, Obama decided upon a career as a "community organizer." Thanks to a grant from a left-wing foundation, he was hired by a group of white disciples of Saul Alinsky, the original apostle of "community organizing." Alinsky's institutional base was the Industrial Areas Foundation, which he called a "school for professional radicals" and whose goal he announced to be "revolution, not revelation." In other words, "community organizer," to Obama and his colleagues was a euphemism for professional radical. It was in the course of trying to mobilize churches for political protest that Obama met Jeremiah Wright. The first time Obama attended services at Trinity, Wright delivered a sermon titled the "audacity of hope" whose theme was: "white folks greed runs a world in need."

A few of the many other observations made by Muravchik: Twenty years later when Wright's extremism was revealed, Obama professed to be "shocked." But in truth, not only was he aware of Wright's views, THEY WERE WHAT HAD DRAWN HIM TO TRINITY IN THE FIRST PLACE. Obama became deeply involved with Bill Ayers, the unrepentant Weather Underground terrorist who specialized in bombing government buildings and who in 2001 told the N.Y. Times: "I don't regret setting bombs. I feel we didn't do enough." All the details of Obama's collusion with Ayers aren't yet clear because Ayers has refused to discuss it and the Obama campaign spokesmen have lied about it. Recently Obama campaign manager, David Axelrod said: "Bill Ayers lives in his neighborhood. Their kids attend the same school." If true, Ayer's children must be slow learners, since they are thirty-one and twenty-eight while Obama's are nine and six. They worked together for five years and when Obama decided to run for the state senate, his first fund-raising event was held in Ayer's home. The two also served together on the leftist Woods Fund from 1998 to 2001. Obama's target was a legislative seat held by Alice Palmer, who had decided to run for U.S. Congress. She introduced Obama as her anointed successor. Like all of Obama's other mentors or patrons, Palmer, too, was a radical and member of the executive body of the U.S. Peace Council, the least disguised of Soviet front organizations. She had made multiple pilgrimages to the Soviet Union. In his campaign for the Illinois senate, Obama was endorsed by the New Party (NP), a coalition of socialists, Communists and other leftists. But to be endorsed a candidate HAD to "sign a contract with the NP which mandates that they have a visible and active relationship with the NP." Apparently, Obama signed such a pledge. After winning the primary (unopposed because his lawyers had succeeded in knocking all three opponents off the ballot), he appeared at a New Party membership meeting to express his thanks. Other radicals, soft and hard, rushed to embrace Obama, often waxing rapturous in their support. In one infamous remark Obama said of voters in economic distress they "cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them." Chastised for his condescension, he responded, "I said something that everybody knows is true." This was an elitism of a very SPECIFIC KIND: the mentality of the community organizer, according to which people are in the grip of "false consciousnss," need to be enlightened as to the true nature of their class interests, and to the nature of their class enemies. Let’s put some of this in simple English ......
Bill Ayers is a former leader of the leftist terrorist group called Weather Underground. He is a long-time associate of Obama. Ayers escaped jail time, and received funds from philanthropist Walter Annenberg to start up Chicago Annenberg Challenge, to improve schools. Obama somehow got picked to be chairman of this organization. Ayers and Obama also served on the “leftist Woods Fund from 1998 to 2001”. Obama claims that Ayers is just a guy happens to live in his neighborhood, but they are political allies. “When Obama decided to run for the state senate, his first fund-raising event was held in the home of Ayers and Dohrn.” (Bernadine Dohrn “hailed the murders ... committed by Charles Manson’s ... followers.” She served 7 months in jail for her role in bombing government buildings.

Add to this Obama’s long affiliation with the Rev. Wright, who preaches hatred of America and hatred of whites.

Obama is an unpredictable, radical socialist. He is pretending to be more moderate, long enough to take over the Oval Office. Then what should we expect? Obama will undermine the Constitution, capitalism and freedom if he is elected.
