Concerns About Palin's Readiness as Big Test Nears (NYT, nuff said)
New York Times ^ | 9/30/08 | Adam Nagourney

A month after Gov. Sarah Palin joined Senator John McCain’s ticket to a burst of excitement and anticipation among Republicans, she heads into a critical debate facing challenges from conservatives about her credentials, signs that her popularity is slipping and evidence that Republicans are worried about how much help she will be for Mr. McCain in November....

"I think she has pretty thoroughly — and probably irretrievably — proven that she is not up to the job of being president of the United States," David Frum, a former speechwriter for President Bush who is now a conservative columnist, said in an interview. "If she doesn’t perform well, then people see it.

"And this is a moment of real high anxiety, a little bit like 9/11, when people look to Washington for comfort and leadership and want to know that people in charge know what they are doing."...

Polling suggests that the number of Americans who think she is not fit to be president has increased since her introduction to the country last month. A number of conservative columnists and thinkers have publicly turned against her, or criticized Mr. McCain for choosing her, including George Will, David Brooks and Kathleen Parker, who wrote a column entitled "She's Out of Her League" for the National Review Online....

I don’t read the NY Slimes, and would appreciate if it isn’t posted here any more.

They are concerned alright...and they are concerned about Sarah. but it has nothing to do with whether she is ready for the White House. It has to do with whether they are even mariginally ready to confront or defeat her.

...and they're not.

There IS a lot of pressure on Governor Palin's shoulders. McCain has been running and inept campaign and the polls are indicating this. My fear is that she cannot deal with generalities, but that is exactly what she will do. I also expect Obama-supporter/moderator Gwen Ifill to highlight those areas where Governor Palin differs from McCain (don't expect the same comparisons of Obama and Biden).

I wish Governor Palin well, but I have a queasy feeling about tomorrow's debate.

WOW, the FIX IS IN!! Just like it was for Hussein OsAMA. CNN aka the news from HELL, coordinated with the false messiah poll victory for the debate. IT worked brilliantly! Now I see the mediaPUKES are sharping their knives for the Sarah kill. ONE wrong move by her and she done! Notice how the majority of toiletnewsmediaclymers keep saying that the conservative base is questioning McCain’s VP choice. FOLKS BE READY, THE CHET IS ABOUT TO HIT THE FAN RIGHT AFTER THE DEBATE. I’m telling you all in advance because the mediaWHORES are so predictable it’s not even funny,...the headlines have already be written! They are going to crucify her right after the debate and from here to election day. They are going to plant the seed of doubt in the conservative base and those who were ready to pull the lever for her in Nov. 4th. THIS IS GOING TO GET UGLY real quick! Pray and fast, please pray. GOD PLEASE BE MERCIFUL UNTO us and favor us Lord with your GOODNESS and a VICTORY! Lord you are our only HOPE and we acknowledged that you are powerful and only through you can we defeat this BEAST!

I’m not worried. People know she is a leader. That’s what they want, not a Jeopardy champ.

You know, I keep seeing these rags citing Parker and her hit piece as proof that Conservatives are worried about Palin. No where do they state that Parker was in fact a big time Romney supporter and his been wanting McCain to dump Palin in favor of Romney from the start.

Parker needs to be taken out and tar and feathered.

I wonder what all these people will say on Friday - after Palin comports herself well in the debate in comparison to the gasbaggery of Biden?

Sarah should practice these lines:

“Senator, are you sure you meant to say that?”
“You may call me Governor Palin, not Toots.”

PS to you, CatOwner... Maybe a name change to CatOwned, since no one can OWN a cat. :>)

Right. She might mess things up...unlike those GENIUSES we have running things into the ground right now. I always think of an article by Dave Barry a few years ago where he says we need a “Department of Louise”.

Why in the world is she agreeing to be grilled by Gwen Ifill? For God’s sake a moose has a better chance of an objective encouner. Who agreed to this? What in H3LL were they thinking?

Don’t worry. Steve-b is the biggest Anti-Palin a-hole on FR. He will make sure to keep posting every anti-Palin article he can find even if it comes straight from the Democratic Party Talking points. When it comes to FR, he is the enemy within.
