If McCain had positioned himself as “I was able to defeat $700 billion of new spending proposed by Bush and Pelosi”, he would be in great shape, especially if he was able to say “I have worked with the Republicans to stabilize our economy without needing massive new debt”, he would be even better.

Instead he has positioned himself as “I was convinced
40 people to support an unpopular and expensive bill, but that wasn’t enough to pass it”.

Judging from the reaction on this thread, Morris struck a nerve. :)

If FReepers are raging, then McCain is getting deluged with the same advice. I hope he takes some of it to heart.

Morris was hysterical yesterday and he’s hysterical today. He needs to get a grip...

McCain's attitude, since suspending his campaign, is the reason I would have voted for Hillary, had she been the nominee!

McCain is dead in the water, he is doing NOTHING & doesn't seem to care.

If I were Palin, I'd run back to Alaska & save my governership at least!

Bush tried to reach across the aisle too & look where it got him. He has the lowest ratings of any president in his second term!

There were many of us (true conservatives here) who despised McCain til he brought Palin onboard, but he has let her down too. What the HECK is he thinking????

If everything proclaimed came to be, there would be no doubt and no surprises. Morris is no more accurate than Miss Cleo.

This is one of the few times I believe Morris is correct.

He suspended his campaign (good start)
He unsuspended his campaign (New bill McCain crowed about his success)
New bill Failed

McCain has offered nothing since. Except he supported the better bill.

Obama will be completely redefined come Thursday night. He will never recover. In the subsequent debates, McCain will finish the job Palin starts.

That is my forecast. I am going to donate a few bucks to McCain if Palin rips into Obama like I hope come Thursday night. I expect to hear these words over and over: ACORN, Fannie, Freddie, Bill Ayers, and Rev. Wright.

McCain is playing Senator. They bargain. They negotiate. They reach across the aisle. They give speeches. They vote on legislation and resolutions.

That is why Senators/Congresspersons should not run for president.

The presidency requires a leader. One who stands at the front. One who faces the crisis head-on. One who is adept at making executive decisions.

Of course, the other Senator said he would phone it in.

[Shaking head — these 2 are what we are stuck with. Can’t we just have a do-over instead?]

The Hildebeast should be bailing McCain out now, by co-sponsoring a free-market plan with him in the Senate, if she wants to run in 2012. She’d do anything to win (including switching to the GOP, LOL).

Morris is a toad.

That said, the problem is simple: when McCain lists to the right, his numbers go up and his base is energized.

When he swings to the left, his numbers tank and his base gets rather melancholy. And distressed.

SOS

Really wondering about McCain. He is acting like a fool. I'm beginning to dislike him more but I think Obama will destroy America. Don't think he has the ability to reason with us Americans.

The election is no longer about Obama. Because of this, he has rebounded. It has to be a referendum on Obama.

Excellent News. Whatever Dickie Morris the Toe Sucker predicts, the exact opposite turns out to be true.

For whatever reason, Morris is almost always 180 degrees off from reality. In fact, McCain has GAINED in several polls in the last few days. All he has to do is SHUT UP about the bailout, since he can’t seem to say anything constructive.
