I really don't know but at least you are asking the right questions. And I would challenge your assumption that just making the bill more conservative is "all any of us asked for". I think many Freepers and most Americans are against the bill on principle. The problem is that rejecting the bill for very good reasons appears to me to be helping Obama. If we lose this election we are going to be in real trouble. More trouble than this bailout bill will cause.

The bottom line is that I don't know what to do. What bothers me is that McCain doesn't seem to know what to do either.

Here’s the skinny — Obama is using legal toadies to block hard hitting 527s that say it like it is. The big fight right now regarding the election is centered around Governor Blunt of Missouri. He’s calling BO out on that. Some FReepers are beginning to figure out bypasses around youtube censorship. We’re all flatfooted this year, taking our freedom of speech for granted. I, like others, had assumed that 527s would have crushed BO by now.

Truth is our trump card. If we find a way around — or through — BO’s conspiracy against free speech, we’ll knock his block off. If we fail, all the fancy footwork in the world won’t save McCain.
