Google urges voters: Trash traditional marriage

Google, the Internet search behemoth, is urging Californians to trash traditional marriage with a new website statement that campaigns against a constitutional amendment proposal that would define – again – marriage in California as being between one man and one woman.

Voters in 2000 approved, with support from 61.4 percent of the people, that definition. But it was summarily thrown out in May by the state Supreme Court in an opinion written by Judge Ron George who said, "an individual's sexual orientation … like a person's race or gender … does not constitute a legitimate basis upon which to deny or withhold legal rights."

More than a million Californians signed a petition to put the same definition into the state constitution, a move that would take it further than the state law approved in 2000 and beyond the reach of activist judges. That has been approved for the 2008 election ballot. Google, however, says the judges were right to disregard the will of California voters on the issue and create "marriage" for same-sex duos.

"It is the chilling and discriminatory effect of the proposition on many of our employees that brings Google to publicly oppose Proposition 8," said the statement, posted on the blog by Sergey Brin, co-founder and president of technology. "While we respect the strongly held beliefs that people have on both sides of this argument, we see this fundamentally as an issue of equality.

In 2000, 61.4 of voters in California went to the polls and said a marriage is between a man and a woman.

It always amazes me that one ahole “judge” can negate the will of millions of voters, just like what happened with Proposition 187 banning entitlements to illegal aliens.

And the liberals than wonder why so many people hate and distrust government.

Yeah.
And then Barney Frank and the U.S. Congress can bail it out with our money!

First of all, marriage is not a right.

Secondly, what about gender, sir? Is that still a legitimate basis? Do we have to outlaw seperate bathrooms for men and women as being seperate and unequal? What about age? What about marital status? What about parnethood? What about all the hundreds of criteria states use to legally discriminate between people? Who’s going to comb through them all and divine what is and is not legitimate? I’d trust the ;egislature before I trust you.

How come judges never argue that being rich isn’t a legitimate basis for discrimination in the tax code? Because conservatives have integrity, that’s why!

You're right. Time for a revolution. the germ of distruction is the judicial branch, marching like a thief across the field of jurisdiction, rendering useless check and balance one branch over the other until our nation becomes as venial and oppressive as the government from which we separated...... ""It is the chilling and discriminatory effect of the proposition on many of our employees..."

That's the point, after all.

People with this sexual disorientation are poisonous to a society. We're just letting them know they're not welcome here.

"While we respect the strongly held beliefs that people have on both sides of this argument, we see this fundamentally as an issue of equality."

It has only been hot on the heels of the Supreme Activist Court decision on Lawrence v. Texas that the Left has publicly stated that homosexuals should have the right to marry. For 40 years they said nothing on this issue. And at the time of LvT we were told that there was no slippery slope or large scale agenda.

Socialists lie. Always.

I have not used Google for some time, knowing of their previous support of the Homosexual agenda. I don’t use Yahoo search for the same reason.

Two good alternatives are www.alltheweb.com and www.clusty.com

Google Comes Out of The Closet And Blasts California Marriage Amendment

Google’s cofounder and President of Technology, Sergey Brin, posted a statement Friday on the company blog against Proposition 8, the proposed constitutional amendment that would protect marriage in California as the union of one man and one woman. It is unfortunate that Google is taking the side of those who try to undermine traditional marriage.

Read our News Release for more details.

Of course, google.com is not the only search engine on the internet.

One alternative is www.goodsearch.com, which gives half of its advertising revenue to charities designated by people using the free search engine. GoodSearch reports on its website that searchers have raised $18,000 for one nonprofit organization, the USPCA. You can use GoodSearch and select Liberty Counsel to receive a donation when you search. Searching is free, and advertisers are the only ones that pay GoodSearch.

On the GoodSearch.com website you will also find a link to the GoodShop online shopping mall which donates up to 37 percent of each purchase to your favorite cause. Hundreds of stores, travel and other websites you may already use (like Walmart, Home Depot, Expedia, Travelocity, etc.) have teamed up with GoodShop, so that every time you place an order, you can designate money to go to Liberty Counsel.

Just go to www.goodsearch.com and enter Liberty Counsel as the charity you want to support. And, be sure to spread the word!
