I don’t know of one, but we should start looking, asking, let the idea gain momentum. Let Congress know a lawsuit is being considered - or perhaps a cease and desist order?

Well, file a frigging injunction for starters, I'd think. Heck, we could take up a collection if an interested firm couldn't do it pro bono. I'd contribute.

The wife mad about the move?

At first she said I couldn't go but we worked the budget and we realized that I needed to take this job since she went on disability, both for the insurance and for the additional income.

So I got a kitchen pass for a year.

Exactly.

The Dems knew they'd have a few good days by lying and demanding speedy capitulation.

The Republicans, to their everlasting credit, didn't fall for it and now....

this thing is a super winner from here all the way to the election!

God knows living in a blue town I'm sick and tired of seeing those "Yee-haw is not a foreign policy" bumperstickers, so how about this variation:

"HOPE is not a foreign policy."

If McCain took the lead in defeating this bill and stuck a stake through its legislative heart, I'd crawl over broken glass to vote for the guy. Happily. Then follow it up with the world's biggest heapin' helping of crow.

Come on, McCain. Seize the day.

In addition - from first-hand knowledge - people were buying houses with nothing down, putting Katrina refugees in them, collecting FEMA payments, not making house payments, and then when it all caught up with them, the houses went into foreclosure and the so-called “owners” were nowhere to be found. The refugees moved on. (I live close to Houston)

What good is a long debate if most of them have decided... It must be within 10 votes or so, and they are stalling to haggle the no votes. Bacchus R-AL is for this, and he is doing his speech. But he still seems not sure.

Interesting. Do you think Bush is on the right or wrong side of this issues?

I think he is on the wrong side of this issue.

I believe the president is trying to protect foreign investments, he mentioned those investments in his speech calling for us to agree with the bailout. Maybe he has good reason within diplomacy arena, but he never provided a full, coherent explanation.

Ya, it was like of of those teen, coming of age, movies where the kids try to get the grown-ups out of the house -fast - so they don't discover the mess.

you can't sue congress

(well - not for what they do as far as congress is concerned - if they run over your cat i guess you could - the ‘environmental protectionist’ groups can though)

“Okay, here it is:
1. Bush gamed-out how the Dems would behave.

2. The Dems did, indeed, go hog wild, loading up the bill with indefensible pork.

3. This created the opening for McCain to seize control of the issue.

It’s one of the most masterful political maneuvers in modern history!”

We think alike. I said this earlier on another thread:

Just had a thought that maybe Bush pushed for this to help put an end to the DEMS and help Republicans take back the House and Senate and put McCAin in the White House.

Maybe Bush knew this would happen, that McCain and Republicans would force the issue and get the problem solved in a way that won’t cost the taxpayers a dime. Like Capital Gains to 0 and let the market correct itself.

Bush would then sign that bill and the Republicans would win in a landslide on November 4th and again in 2010 in the House & Senate!

And may I also add this to what I said below:

The same accusations will be made against anyone who dares to question any of Obamamessiah’s policies and activities should he be elected. This needs to be made crystal clear to any who actually think that he should be allowed anywhere near the White House as “Commander in Chief”.

“What I can’t understand is how Franklin Raines, who did far more damage to the U.S. economy than Enron ever did, is getting off scot-free, while Enron executives were pilloried (some literally to their deaths).” ~ rightwingintelligentsia

Because, as is shown on this 2004 Congressional Hearing, anyone who questioned his activities, is attacked as either an Uncle Tom or a racist:

If the house vote fails, and the NYSE drops suddenly, what level would they close the market?
-1000?
-2000?

Right now -297

“The market is not working and the market is the only thing that can fix it. This will not fix it at all What led us to this is fear of being called racists and political correctness. The people who broke it are claiming they can fix it.”

We wouldn't be suing Congress any more than the idiots down in Gitmo are. We'd be going after a ruling on the law. I'm no lawyer, but federal courts hear issues of constitutionality all the time. Remember Heller?

I’d contribute too. What better place to get the action started than FR?
