Rep. Issa may still be holding out, there may be others.
No it’s not, all it has to do is to assume the community bank position.
ISSA CONTINUES TO OPPOSE COMPROMISE BAILOUT PROPOSAL
September 28, 2008
Washington, DC Rep. Darrell Issa today took to the House floor and said of the announced compromise bailout proposal, "It does not do what the American people are asking to do, and that is protect their tax dollars." Rep. Issa, who has offered an alternative plan that uses private investments to fund a secured loan for struggling firms with failing mortgage assets, said that even after changes by Congressional negotiators, the Paulson plan is still deeply flawed at its core. Theres been a lot of lip stick added, but this bailout is still a pig, added Issa.
I have spoken with numerous experts, including some who I know from my career in the private sector, said Issa. The process in crafting this legislation has been deeply flawed and Congress needs to seek expertise beyond just the current leadership in the Department of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve. Im not opposing this because I believe Congress should do nothing, but because I believe it needs to take time and get it right. Our economy faces serious challenges and buying Wall Streets biggest mistakes wont solve our problems, it will just get rid of our money."
Good point. Other than conservatives, you’re right. But we have to keep at it.
Judas Bush sold out every decent hardworking American for 700B pieces of Silver.
I hope Wamp is as well as the rest of the Tennessee Congresscritters. Wamp seemed pretty angry over it Friday in his phone message. I hope he sticks to it.
Tell me about it. I voted for him twice. And McCain makes me think of Arnie, here in the the almost bankrupt state of California. Barf!! It seems there are no honest men to lead this country. A people perish for a lack of leadership.
God help us, we will need it.
whatever...
This story is obviously not ‘breaking news.’
The auto bailout is more important.
whatever... This story is obviously not breaking news. The auto bailout is more important.this is important news to me because he's my Congressman and I made my mind known to him a week ago in this matter, and as of this moment, he has stuck to his guns, not so for other politicians.
I agree with you.
My comment was not meant in your direction.
