A solid endorsement of conservatism.

I don’t think she was saying it’s a bad thing. She was making a promise on behalf of the conservatives, I think. Now the media might think it’s a bad thing...

Just as in the 1930s the good, tolerant people have allowed a vicious cult to gain power and influence.Hitler could have been stomped on in 1934 when he flagrantly violated the Versailles agreements by sending a few troops into the Rhineland;and he and his thugs were emboldened by the British and French inaction;now the British and French have even more of the enemy living right amongst them, often on the dole.

Welfare and various public assistance programs tend to undermine nations in so many ways, but paying those who hate you to move to your country and then paying them for non-productivity so they may use their time spreading violence has got to be the most stupid thing done by politicians.

Hopefully Labour will get their clocks cleaned whenever the next election happens.

No, NOT a bad thing. She’s the “shadow” security minister, and Labor is still very much in charge, which makes her a Tory (Conservative).

Shadow minister is a term parliamentary ruled systems use, as since theoretically, the party out of power could gain power at any time—so they have leaders selected in advance for the various REAL government ministry positions.

I could envision such a position as being VERY popular with native English.... It will be interesting if this platform moves the Torys back into power.

In the UK, unlike in the USA, they cannot really have a split government (as we do today) with one party controlling the legislature and another the executive. Although the prime minister is voted for by the people, it is really his party which is elected—the majority of Parliament always has the prime minister. Coalition governments happen, but not split ones.

2010 I think is the next scheduled election. Of course, there could be pressure put on Labour for an early election. The Conservatives are up by about 10% in most polls. I can honestly see them getting elected. Some of the Conservative MP’s are really switched on and are going to do well campaigning for the UK to find her national identity again.

Spot on explanation. And yes, I do think that the Conservatives are going to get elected next time around.

Labour will get thumped, with I suspect many of its voters heading to the Liberal Democrats (more or less in the Centre of the political spectrum). Conservative voters will be rallied by the need for change in this country, and I for one welcome it.

Only a handful of replies in this thread.

Hmm, still I suppose its easier to rant about the damn Limeys being Moozlim-ified and sit smugly crowing about being the world’s last bastion...
