Unfortunately, those are the dominant reasons for defaults.
No bail-outs for ANY reason!
If you don't pay, you lose your house. Nobody forced you to sign a mortgage. Nobody guarantees you the right to own a home for which you cannot pay!
The free market gives lenders and borrowers the freedom to choose. It also brings teeth to bite you. If you take the teeth away, it's not a free market.
Nobody should get a mortgage bail-out for any reason because the government becomes the arbiter of sob stories. Your neighbor keeps his house and you don't because he had a bigger sob story than you do.
Oh what a wonderful thing to go crawling to a bureaucrat with tears running down your face, begging to keep your house.
BULL!

The housing bill passed by Congress in July also included a tax on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to raise an estimated $600 million annually in grants for these lobbying groups. When Fannie and Freddie went under, the Democrats had to find a new way to fill the pipeline flowing tax dollars into the groups’ coffers.

- Would direct 20 percent of any future profits from the bailout fund to the Affordable Housing Fund and the Capital Magnet Fund to meet U.S. housing needs. House Republicans, however, have made clear they oppose this provision. - Reuters
Pete Hoekstra said on Twitter that this is the first Congress has heard about the deal and that it’s time to start arm breaking.
