I think that the bailout money should only be used to shore up the mortgages for people who couldn't pay their mortgage due to job loss or major illness.

Unfortunately, those are the dominant reasons for defaults.

No bail-outs for ANY reason!

If you don't pay, you lose your house. Nobody forced you to sign a mortgage. Nobody guarantees you the right to own a home for which you cannot pay!

The free market gives lenders and borrowers the freedom to choose. It also brings teeth to bite you. If you take the teeth away, it's not a free market.

Nobody should get a mortgage bail-out for any reason because the government becomes the arbiter of sob stories. Your neighbor keeps his house and you don't because he had a bigger sob story than you do.

Oh what a wonderful thing to go crawling to a bureaucrat with tears running down your face, begging to keep your house.

BULL!

I wonder if the Members will see the actual bill language before the vote, much less the rest of us?

Good question! I'll go you one better...I wonder if the actual bill will be posted on the internet so that we the people can read it before the vote?

Hope this is correct. But we have to watch every future bill. Per the WSJ:

This isn't the first time this year that Democrats have tried to route money for fixing the housing crisis into the bank accounts of these community activist groups. The housing bill passed by Congress in July also included a tax on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to raise an estimated $600 million annually in grants for these lobbying groups. When Fannie and Freddie went under, the Democrats had to find a new way to fill the pipeline flowing tax dollars into the groups’ coffers.

well we’re being invaded here in northern Florida

more reason to get the flag shown now.

If they think negative of it then tough for them they should go back to school or do some research about how the indians fought, who side they were on including many others.

Also lets not forget the supposed reconstruction and how some could not vote for 10 years.

Every report now has it confirmed that the Affordable Housing Trust provision is out and that some form of insurance option is in.

That is great news if true. Could you possibly direct me to one of those reports?

The remaining question is whether House Republicans buy into the final deal. Boehner and Cantor have been excellent—I await their words. McCain must do what they do.

I absolutely agree with that!

I heard that ACORN had been stripped out of the bill earlier today.

ACORN has multiple front groups, such as Project Vote, the Working Families Party (WFP), Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE) and Citizens Consulting, Inc.

With thousands of earmarks in the bailout scam, ACORN will get a fat slice one way or another.

Sorry. ACORN is still in and gets 20% of sale profits.

- Would direct 20 percent of any future profits from the bailout fund to the Affordable Housing Fund and the Capital Magnet Fund to meet U.S. housing needs. House Republicans, however, have made clear they oppose this provision. - Reuters

Pete Hoekstra said on Twitter that this is the first Congress has heard about the deal and that it’s time to start arm breaking.

This may be more BS; so they can go home and get some sleep.
