Since neither ruling nor opposition party is popular, I don't see both candidates ditching 'Party of One' perception. On the contrary, they will push that image further.

Wait, I have it wrong, it's the older man who was dramatic and impetuous, the younger man who was deliberative and temperate! When you have the President saying there is a crisis maybe one isn't being dramatic by putting politics aside and doing his job as a senator.

I don't think the Beltway insiders get it; just like the Obama campaign, they resent the idea that an actual crisis in the real world interfered with the inside-the-bubble election campaign world.
And Senator McCain suspended his campaign long enough to force action - whether it was his idea or some House Republican. Good for him. Hopefully we will end up with some kind of bill that conservatives can live with, if not endorse with enthusiasm.
This also clearly illustrates why Senators don't get elected President very often. Sometimes the real world requires actual action instead of preening and posturing, and that's not good for a back-bencher professional nuisance.

So is this Peggy Noonan the Conservative or Peggy Noonan the “I’ve been inside the beltway too long.”?

Dear Peggy.
I am tired of all your double talk.
Take a valium, go home and get some sleep.

There is something about Peggy Noonan that really annoys me. I won’t read her stuff anymore.
