CBS Edits Palin Response To Create Bad Impression Of Palin

SJReidhead over at the Pink Flamingo notes why Sarah Palin came off so incoherent in those CBS News interviews with Katie Colic - Palin’s responses where edited to make her appear to stumble:

“…(2:58) Couric: What, specifically, in your view, could be done to convince the new government in Pakistan to take a harder, tougher line against terrorists in that country?

Palin: At a time when new leadership comes in, that is the opportunity to forge better, tighter, more productive relationships and that’s what we’ll take advantage of with new leadership in the US and in Pakistan. And I’m sure that President Zardari, too, will agree with us as we commit to the support that Pakistan needs, that other nations in the region need, in order to win this war on terrorism. (3:32)

(5:39) Couric: But what lessons do you think you have learned as you’ve watched this unfold in terms of implementing the democracy and the challenges inherent in that goal?

Palin: Well, one is that America cannot be counted on to do this solely, to be the savior of every other nation, but we need friends and we need allies and we need this nation-building effort and we need to forge new alliances, and that is what a new election will provide opportunity to do.

And dolts like Kathleen Parker from NRO fell for the deception. Americans need to demand CBS offer the ENTIRE unedited interview on their website - now. We can then decide for ourselves what was important to hear from Sarah Palin.

Parker, a typical white person, believes what she sees on the telly, and suffers for it. Anyone thinking and trying to write about politics should know that the print and broadcast news people are just an extension of Obama’s campaign, what with Olbermann catching a colleague not bad-mouthing McCain and screaming about it into an inadvertently-open mike, and with Matthews’ “thrills and chills up and down my legs” from hearing Obama speak, and with The New York Times refusing to publish McCain’s commentary a week after it had printed Obama’s.

Sara Palin and Co. already knew this, going in to her various interviews, but they should have taken it to heart. No Republican or conservative is going to get fair treatment from Big Media; I’m disappointed that the McCainsters sent Palin into the Gibson pop quiz and into Couric’s chop shop so breezily.

That’s about the size of it...we’ve been had and we’ve been lied to.

These corporations - and that includes the one we fund - CPB - need to be held responsible.

They will watch precisely to see who Sarah is. In the Alaska gubernatorial debate, she did quite well. And she's coming up to be contrasted with gaffe prone Slow Joe. So I will say give her a break!

I'm not worried about it. There are things in life over which most of us have no control. And if the GOP ticket is worried, they're showing no sign of it. They do the best job they can and have fun and at the end of day, the voters will decide if it was good enough. I'm looking ahead to Thursday night!

We have the criminals in congress and the senate, the CEO’s of these governemnt run corporations monitarily supporting these criminals in the congress and senate, these fictitious urban housing groups like ACORN siphoning off our tax dollars in support of these criminals in congress and the senate, the media left supporting the criminals in congress and the senate and thier man of the hour Obama who is up to his eye balls in this whole thing.
And yet we hear that Obama won the debate when it came to the economy and this financial crisis he and his comrades in the congress and senate supproted, protected, coddled and got rich off of, at the American tax payers expence. AM I LIVING IN BIZZARO WORLD????

Unauthorized editing of an interview can be deterred by having an advisor or handler or whatever they call the PR type people who accompany a candidate - tape the ensuing interview whether in sight or surruptitiously - so the interviewer and producers know the full length unedited version is available for rebuttal and clarification.

If someone writes in a publication, unauthorized editing is liable - so should verbal be protected from messing around with content response or removal.

Someone should advise the Palin group to avoid future problems. She has enough mud slinging in the few months she has been campaigning and all we do is discuss it - it should be stopped - or better - no interviews without a signed approval before airing or press.

IMO, the McCain/Palin team should insist on live interviews only, or final approval of taped interviews.

The McCain camp’s decision to shield Palin from interviewing is not helping the campaign at this point. After last night’s debate, Biden was all over the place supporting Obama and acting as cheerleader. Palin was nowhere to be found. This does give the impression - right or wrong - that she is not prepared to be grilled on the issues. Let’s face it, Palin has looked tentative and unsure on a number of issues. McCain showed up at the debate and took questions from a liberal moderator, Lehrer. He did quite well, too. Whether we like it or not, this is the game that’s played. Palin has to get out there and show the American people she can think on her feet and act as an effective surrogate for McCain. Thus far, she has not done that.

Dear WeareRight (2008-09-27)-

Your “sleepless nights”, Trollup, are most likely caused by a conscience contaminated by deceit, dishonor and perversity.

Some day down the road you will face your Maker.

You can then relate just how much you have loved the Lord God and your Neighbor as yourself.

A person without love is nothing. .

When Katie asked Sarah about her “international experience,” she should have said she would use the same principles and instricts she has used as a governor. Biden has 30 years of international experience, all of it wrong headed.

You are so right, and that's what's killing me about the way they are preparing Gov. Palin for these interviews. It's not rocket science. You know they are going to ask her certain questions---about her international experience, about the bailout---but still she wasn't ready. It also seems they have also told her not to attack Barry or Biden.

What they are doing is not working. They need to change it up. And they need to get her on talk radio.

This is why every interview any Republican candidate does with the MSM should be recorded by them and placed on websites such as youtube in entirety. There people can see for themselves how the MSM twists, distorts and lies.

The broadcast media will often use the term “time constraints” demanding they remove extraneous stuff - this is never questioned by the candidates as they believe the important issues will be included.

The moderator/questioner is never edited - and their queries tend to be overly lengthy - only the responses are edited.

What does that say to all of us?

If I was Sarah - I would take my own tape recorder and hold it in my lap while being questioned. If asked about it - I would say to the questioner: “To keep you honest”.
