SJReidhead over at the Pink Flamingo notes why Sarah Palin came off so incoherent in those CBS News interviews with Katie Colic - Palins responses where edited to make her appear to stumble:
(2:58) Couric: What, specifically, in your view, could be done to convince the new government in Pakistan to take a harder, tougher line against terrorists in that country?
Palin: At a time when new leadership comes in, that is the opportunity to forge better, tighter, more productive relationships and thats what well take advantage of with new leadership in the US and in Pakistan. And Im sure that President Zardari, too, will agree with us as we commit to the support that Pakistan needs, that other nations in the region need, in order to win this war on terrorism. (3:32)
(5:39) Couric: But what lessons do you think you have learned as youve watched this unfold in terms of implementing the democracy and the challenges inherent in that goal?
Palin: Well, one is that America cannot be counted on to do this solely, to be the savior of every other nation, but we need friends and we need allies and we need this nation-building effort and we need to forge new alliances, and that is what a new election will provide opportunity to do.
And dolts like Kathleen Parker from NRO fell for the deception. Americans need to demand CBS offer the ENTIRE unedited interview on their website - now. We can then decide for ourselves what was important to hear from Sarah Palin.

don't think you can set the record straight after its out there...
the way to handle any taped interview is to demand absolute control over what is aired, and if that is not acceptable, decline long interviews....
public speeches at favorable rallies...townhalls...theres a millions ways to get around the meida...
I agree, let them squeal like pigs, but don’t let them interview her again, they are low life liars.
I love that picture.....
There are many what ifs she said this or that. Bottom line is that she is relatively inexperienced at these MSM tetes-a-tetes and she quite frankly looks like a rookie. This is counter-balanced by an ability to take the huge pressure she's under with relative calmness. However, she tends to articulate in broad generalities and then repeats them. It appears like her grasp of issues, particularly foreign issues (not just foreign policy), is very limited. She appears to have no historical acumen as in her reading library including histories of Russia, or Europe, India, etc. Her grasp of these are very superficial and it shows. In one sense Ferraro is right when on Fox this morning she stated that her handlers have been mishandling her. They should bunker her down and deal in more detail with McCain's record, foreign policy history, etc. I don't know if that's the way to go. Indeed, Reagan was best when he wasn't forced to be a geek.
That's how they think. No one could do anything without government and government control guarantees everything is "fair". Like CBS News, for instance. But you're right: the Republicans need to go after CBS, and now.
Next question: why isn't this story all over FOX News?
Not quite. If Republicans go after CBS, NBC, CNN... they would be fighting the wrong war. Palin is not the issue, regardless of how the media portrays her. The economy is, and thats what the Republicans need to be talking about, including Palin.
I've thought the same thing. I've seen a video of Palin when she was running for governor of AK. She was against two lawyer-suit types and smarmy reporters and had to answer question after question about her pro-life beliefs. "But what if the guy who was raping your daughter had a really bad case of acne?" kind of question.
Finally, she was asked about the gas pipeline, she lit up and tore it up.
She was great. She even had a few terse comebacks that were very effective. When asked a particularly dumb question she sweetly said, "And I trust that question will also be directed to my opponent." Snap.
That's the same as saying "She must never give an interview to the MSM." One could argue whether or not that's a good idea, but no MSM will ever give editorial approval to an interviewee, no matter how much they want to get them on their show.
Either way, the media is complicit in portraying Republicans in the way that Democrats want them to be seen, applying a huge distorting filter to whatever message the GOP seeks to communicate. That's why it is so frustrating to be a Republican in public life: you've got to work twice as hard for half the result, and fight a two-front battle in every war. Few people have the rhetorical and personal skills to overcome such a handicap. Reagan was the best I ever saw.
Even when the Democrats are out of step with the majority of the country, they never go off-message. The Republicans do. all the time. That’s the difference.
I just love the FCC. They stand up for manufacturers of wireless microphones!
Is that Robert Duvall?
Freegards
That's right, and I have said precisely the same thing to my wife on several occasions as we've struggled to understand why Republicans are always playing catch-up. It does beg the question as to how the Dems manage to maintain such discipline, especially since their personal lives and habits so often tend toward the other extreme. Is it because they believe in political power in a way that Republicans do not, and are uncomfortable with? Is it an artifact of the difference between an ideology (liberalism) and a philosophy (conservatism)? These are the sort of things we tend to discuss (Heaven help us) over drinks and dinner.
Shhhhhh. They’re listening right now. ;-)
If that is the case the FCC have long since given up their governance over the networks and anyone campaigning who are disliked by the media should decline any airtime whatsoever.
They will make Palin look bad whether she agrees to a formal interview or not.
There is nothing honorable about the press these days.
Hahaha that graphic was terrific.....
Please Watch This Video: Behind the Scenes of 'We Were Soldiers"
'We Were Soldiers' DVD Starring Mel Gibson
Excerpt From One Amazon.com Review:
The power of good acting is real characters, and this film is reality. The expressions of excited young men going off to war, is stunningly altered into those bearing great shock, sorrow, and death. The women they left at home portray the qualities of 1965 ladies supportive of their husbands, no matter what.I just watched this film on DVD for about the fifth time. Felt that the YouTube of the Behind the Scenes was worth sharing with All Freepers.Madeline Stowe, as Lt. Col. Hal Moore's wife, unites the wives left behind on the base. When the Army is unprepared to hand deliver telegrams informing the family that their soldier died, she takes over the task from the cab company that had been hired to do so. Each telegram is poignant, and I was reminded that every soldier, nurse, doctor, civilian, everyone has a story. * * *
We Were Soldiers is intense, and I could only watch it in short segments. I needed time to think, to understand, and to witness the horror of battle. It is vivid -- when bullets hit bodies, blood spews from the wounds. Friendly fire kills, and is only called friendly because the man behind the bullet or bomb is in the same army. Napalm burns whomever is in the path, and flesh is charred to the bone. These are graphically displayed, and accounts for the "R" rating at the box office.
The reality, especially looking backwards at history and knowing these men and women came home without a hero's welcome, stirs me deeply. Honor and integrity are shown along with "battle scenes once seen that can never be forgotten" in words such as "I will be the first one on the field and the last one to leave, and I will leave no man behind."
Cheers ! Have a great day . . .
Democrats often get off-message. However, the media never reports that part. It gets wiped from history immediately.
