Round 1 in debates goes to Obama, poll says (Projectile hurl alert)

OXFORD, Mississippi (CNN) -- A national poll of people who watched the first presidential debate suggests that Barack Obama came out on top, but there was overwhelming agreement that both Obama and John McCain would be able to handle the job of president if elected.

Fifty-one percent of those polled thought Obama did the better job in Friday night's debate, while 38 percent said John McCain did better.

The results may be favoring Obama simply because more Democrats than Republicans tuned in to the debate. Of the debate-watchers questioned in this poll, 41 percent of the respondents identified themselves as Democrats, 27 percent as Republicans and 30 percent as independents.

The best estimate of the number of Democrats in the voting age population as a whole indicates that the sample is roughly 5 to 7 percentage points more Democratic than the population as a whole.

This is utterly ridiculous! They interview a whole 524 "adults", not registered voters or even likely voters, then gin up the number of rats to get the man child to 51%. I've never seen anything this biased in my life!

It really doesn’t matter who wins this one or the next. We all know the ADD “undecideds” will go with the most recent memory. Last one counts.

This was done last night immediately after the debate, which means it had to be a left coast poll.

It is ridiculous in reality but in perception it is likely. The styles favor Obama in the dumbed down age of emotion over substance. Listen to people and particulary the women, they said Obama seems to care more about people. An absolutely stupid statement when it comes to doing the job of POTUS but thats where we are at.

I don’t think this changes much. Its hard to win a debate but its easy to lose one and I don’t think either had a monster gaffe or that their was some election changing exchange.

That was also my assessment. McCain should have come out swinging from the start. By the time he found his footing, most of the viewership tuned out and went to bed. He lost another chance to nail Obama to the wall about the economy, and I doubt he’ll get another chance.

They could have conducted the same poll a day before the debate and came up with the same result. And they have the stones to talk about “truth squads!?” Unbelievable.

What concerns me is that the average Americans attention span is about 15 seconds. Anyone who had not seen the debate and read this headline would come to the conclusion that the false messiah cleaned McCain's clock, which is the furthest thing from the truth.

While it means little, Drudge poll has it better then 2 to 1 in favor of McCain.
I am sure the Communist News Network polled only
Obama campaign workers.

Oh BS CNN .....you just set yerself back in fair reporting another 100 point’s !

OhButtHead was stuttering and looking for an exit like a dealer holding a kilo at a cop convention........HE LOST that debate an I don’t even like McCain !

I will vote for McCain as the alternative is a Socialist Seditious POS the Democrats are feeding America ! Kinda like the congress that is destroyed this nation in the last 2 years !

Seven & a half years!

George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years. The
first six the economy was fine.

A little over one year ago:

1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;

2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;

3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.

4) The DOW JONES hit a record high — 14,000+

5) American’s were buying new cars, taking cruises and
vacations overseas, living large!

But American’s wanted ‘CHANGE’! So, in 2006 they voted
in a Democratic Congress & yep — we got ‘CHANGE’ all right!

1) Consumer confidence has plummeted;

2) Gasoline is now over $4 a gallon & climbing;

3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);

4) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12
trillion dollars & prices are still dropping;

5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

6) THE DOW is probing another low ~11,300 — $2.5
TRILLION DOLLARS HAS EVAPORATED FROM THEIR STOCKS, BONDS & MUTUAL
FUNDS INVESTMENT PORTFOLIOS!

YEP, IN 2006 AMERICA VOTED FOR CHANGE! AND WE GOT IT! A
DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS,
NANCY PELOSI. HARRY REID.

Now the Democrats’ candidate for president — and the
polls say he’s gonna be ‘the man’ — claims he’s gonna really give us
change! Just how much more ‘change’ do you think you can stand?

Of course it’s ridiculous; but that’s in the playbook too.

It’s really very simple. Obama is not Presidential material period.

Ok, so the discussion is over. If these people were remotely professional, they would have seen the breakdown, and tossed this.

You are soooo right. However if 49 percent of the audience of CNN thought McCain better it says a lot.

They are the Communist News Network, making Provda Prowd.

I did a little spreadsheet work on the numbers. If you allocate the undecideds 50/50 then the final win/lost ratio is almost exactly the same as the Dem/Republican ratio. Both sides simply voted for their guy and they polled more Dems so that shows Obama “won”. He didn’t of course but that is the way you do polls CNN-style.
