“Newman was a dyed-in-the-wool left wing liberal, but at this time, all prayers and thoughts go out to his family. He was (easily) one of the greatest actors ever and will be missed. My personal favorite movie of his was The Sting. He will be missed (if this unconfirmed report is true).
He was an old school liberal though. He didn’t hate his country or anything like that. He just had another philosophy than we did and did a great job helping other people. I’m fine with people like that. Its the self before country, whining, preening types I can’t stand.
Liberals like that, I don’t mind. He put his money where his mouth was, quietly, which is more than we can say about a lot of people, liberal or conservative.
He was married for forty years, which is more than we can say about a lot of people, liberal or conservative.
If the rest of the left was like him, we’d be in great shape.
So True....today 'actors' (except for a few) can't act if their life depended on it. Paul was a liberal in the Joe Lieberman mold -- He loved the USA and he wanted to help the disadvantaged. Paul, put his $$$ where his mouth was.
If you gave Tom Cruise acting lessons -- he still wouldn't be Paul Newman!
