You mean there are ‘actors’ still today?? I would call 90% of those Communists in Hollywierd actors - I seen better acting at the local community theater — NOT ORGANIZED by ACORN or Obama!!<<<<<<<<<<<

Good point. I should have said “so-called actors” of today, as there is apparently no need for actual talent.
Newman was indeed good at his craft.

IIRC, this isn't the first time you've taken issue with Reagan's personal life.

Sorry, but I've been a Reagan supporter for years --I campaigned for Ron in 1976. I never had any issues with Ron!! I don't have issues with anyone's personal life. If you don't work on your marriage - it will fail. The only thing I have to say about marriage is that no matter what both PARTNERS need to work on it to SUCCEED.

I'm not one of these people who CONDEMNS people who have more then one marriage - one of my brothers is on his second, and one of my sisters is one her fourth.

Yes, but can't you put away your HATRED for liberals for a few days. I met him a few times -- once at his 'HOLE IN THE WALL' camp, another at Lime Rock Raceway and many times at 'SHADY GLEN', a restaurant he and Joanne stop at in Connecticut.

Yes, he is a liberal, but it is still a sad day that one of Hollywood's great actors died.

Didn't some of you complained about KOS and DU didn't like what they were saying when William F Buckley died?? You are doing the same to a LIBERAL -- TRASHING HIM.

$228,300 to Democrats

$250 million to charity

I think, in balance, his good deeds outweighed his bad. :o)

RIP Cool Hand

Agreed!!

I'm not saying that he was NOT a LIBERAL, but some of us here -- did write that the DU and KOS were happy when WFB died. Some of us here at FR are doing the same thing. I am not a Hypocrite and I wish people here at FR wasn't either.

Hollywood lost a GREAT ACTOR, the racing world lost an icon and the earth lost a great human. Some of you are doing what KOS and DU do when a CONSERVATIVE dies.

We’ve been here before, you and I. Remember the last time you replied to me. Well, I’m still Reagan Man and you haven’t shut me up.

For a newbie, you repeatedly have shown you have a big ZERO for brains. But you being a Libertarian, I understand why. Libertarians are closer to liberals like Paul Newman and Barack Obama, especially on the social issues. Libertarians have little in common with traditional conservatives like Ronald Reagan.

And I never condemned anyone for being being married more than once. On top of everything else, you’re a liar to boot.

Free Republic is a political website and Paul Newman was a liberal Democrat and a political acitivist. If you want to praise Paul Newman and canonize him, you're on the wrong website. Take your juvenile remarks over to DU or KOS. They support everything Newman stood for and everything Free Republic opposes:

"We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc."

Free Republic is a political forum for conservatives.

"As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America."

He was pretty sweet in Exodus. I have read comments from people who think it was odd casting Newman in the lead, but his father was a German Jew.

I recommend the film to people who would like to hear Newman refer to himself as a "Palestinian." Awesome.

note I saw: Newman's trademark blue eyes were color blind, which prevented him from pursuing his goal of becoming a Navy pilot in World War Two.

I enjoyed Newman in Somebody Up There Likes Me, Hud and of course, Cool Hand Luke. Never cared for most of his other roles. The Sting was a good film too. Movies should be entertaining and fun to watch. They should wisk you away from the average daily grind and inject you into a storyline that contains a strong element of surrealism. A lot of Newman’s films were dreary stories of human failures and bleak outcomes. The same reason I don’t care for Liz Taylor’s films. Hollywood loves those type of films and Newman was the poster boy, along with Brando and Dean, for this type of acting. Brando did have a unique ability to rise above that darkness. As did Monty Clift.

Super actor, great man—a lot of money from Newman’s Own goes to Fisher House for the troops. Strover Martin’s “What we have hear is failure to communicate” in Cool Hand Luke is classic likne.

There was no hatred in my statements - just facts. You are the one that is getting emotional. Be rational and see beyond youe feelings.

He was a liberal who worked hard and contributed hard to liberal causes. And he was proud of it. He wrote letters saying that.

Those are ALL facts. I have nothing to hate about him.

I just dislike that my grandchldren are going to have to live in a very different world than we had growing up (homosexual rights, abortion rights, etc.) because liberals feel they need to change our America (remember the Dixie Chicks?)

Sorry, but I've been on FR since 1999. I changed my name because I've moved to Maine to enjoy my children. I know I'm not the only one who changes names on here.

Libertarians are closer to liberals like Paul Newman and Barack Obama, especially on the social issues.

sorry, but just because I don't fit in a cuddyhole about homosexual issues you are calling me a LIBERAL?? Remember that Ron Reagan said thou shall speak ill of FELLOW REPUBLICANS, and you SOCIAL CONSERVATIVES are what is wrong with the REPUBLICAN PARTY.

Homosexuality doesn't affect me or my wife. My son has 2 friends who are gay and our neighbor is a gay couple raising 2 boys -- who are great kids (and my son's friend, and no they are straight).

You are the liar!!

Please STFU...You are the one who is SPEWING BS about Paul Newman. I met him, and yes he is a LIBERAL, but do not be happy that he is dead. I bet he done more for charity work then you did.

I am sticking to my CONSERVATIVE VALUES -- and that is smaller government, lower taxes and no ABORTION. If 2 people want to marry and ADOPT -- it doesn't AFFECT my relationship to my wife and kids. If homosexual marriage affects you, you need a hobby!! :-)

Sorry, I've said he was a LIBERAL, but he was also a great actor and having met him, he put his $$ where his mouth was. I worked at his camp and he was not today's typical Hollywood liberal. That is what I'm saying.

I just dislike that my grandchldren are going to have to live in a very different world than we had growing up (homosexual rights, abortion rights, etc.) because liberals feel they need to change our America (remember the Dixie Chicks?)

Why are you against homosexuals? 99% of them are like you - they want lower taxes, smaller government and are business people. Having a gay couple -- who is raising their kids - next to us -- doesn't affect my wife at all. This is the only issue I'm not CONSERVATIVE on. If you want to call me a LIBERAL, go ahead, but as I said on Saturday -- America lost a GREAT ACTOR and race driver!! May he rest in peace...

>>>>>>Sorry, but I've been on FR since 1999.

LOL I think you're a committed liar.

>>>>>Libertarians are closer to liberals like Paul Newman and Barack Obama, especially on the social issues.

Then change you're name to MaineLiberal. Its more fitting. You're no conservative.

>>>>>Please STFU...

NO! You're a social liberal that makes you fair game --- and an idiot to boot. I'll be in your face whenever I think its necessary. Get use to it, or get lost.

>>>>>>you SOCIAL CONSERVATIVES are what is wrong with the REPUBLICAN PARTY.

You're definitely on the wrong website. FRee Republic is a conservative forum, not a GOP forum and NOT a forum for social liberalism.

Here's the facts about this forum... AGAIN...:

Free Republic opposes:

"We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc."

Free Republic is a political forum for conservatives:

"As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America."

As you can see FR opposes all forms of "homosexualism", mister nudity. Get use to it or get lost.
