Barr was planning to take McCain's place at debate
CQ Politics ^ | 09/26/08 | CQ Staff

Bob Barr just can't seem to get a break. The Libertarian presidential candidate was hoping to stand in tonight as Republican nominee John McCain's replacement in the debate with Democratic nominee Barack Obama.

But now that McCain has announced that he will participate in the debate at the University of Mississippi after all, Barr will have to be content once again to simply stand in the wings complaining that he ought to be included as well.

There was, however, some good news for Barr this week. The National Taxpayer's Union put out an analysis of each presidential candidate's spending agenda and found that Barr would actually cut spending by about $200 billion while both McCain and Obama would increase it.

Now, that's something worth debating says Barr, a former Republican congressman from Georgia (1995-2003).

"This study just goes to show that both Republicans and Democrats will only add more to our already sky-rocketing debt," he said in a statement today. "On Election Day, voters can choose John McCain's big government, Barack Obama's bigger government, or Bob Barr's smaller government."

Is this why McCain decided to attend at the last minute?

A vote for Barr is a vote for Obama,

A vote for Rep. Barr is a vote for THE Conservative candidate. A vote against the two liberals in the race.

Wasn’t Barr too busy defending child rapists or suing police forces to prevent them from arresting illegal aliens?

I think the better play would have been for McCain to give his debate seat to Nader for the night. Can you just see Obama and him going at it. LOL

LOL, good joke..
Barr is about as Conservative as Fred Phelps is a Christian. He can take his child rapist defending, illegal alien loving butt back to the ACLU.

A vote for Barr is a vote for a defender of child molesters.

A vote against the two liberals in the race.

If you're trying to equate the two, I would suggest you get to the nearest Home Depot quickly. You've got a screw loose.

It may be a comfortable place for someone defending Open Borders Barr.

And you think John McCain is better on that issue?

If you are going to knock Barr to show how McCain is better, pick another issue.

We have influence over McCain through donations and elected officials. Let’s say, for the sake of argument, Barr wins. Barr has zero members in the house or senate. With McCain, we have at least a good contingent of House Conservative Republicans who can block him or even help block bills from ever reaching him. Barr would have zero vested party interest in supporting those officials being reelected.

Bob Barr is a disgrace and an embarrassment who has lost any credibility he had left.

After this latest attempt at being an attention whore I am sure he can go back to his old job at the ACLU.

“A vote for Rep. Barr is a vote for THE Conservative candidate. A vote against the two liberals in the race.”

I agree with you 100%.

Thank you.

And then there are those FR flakes running around who have never followed what Barr has to say. But then, when has reading been a prerequisite? So much for no child left behind. Imagination rules the day since reading is no longer required.

>> A vote for Rep. Barr is a vote for THE Conservative candidate. <<

Only in the minds of the 0.02% of Americans who still support Barr. The rest of us think Barr's support of Gorebull warming, gay marriage, surrender in Iraq, amnesty for illegals, and keeping the status quo on abortion is anything BUT conservative.

Even a card-carrying member of the Libertarian Party admitted Sarah Palin is more "libertarian" than Barr will ever be.

Pretty scary how your guy Barr is trying to run to the LEFT of the Greens on the gorebull warming scam and out-liberal Obama on out-of-Iraq now.
