A quick little vanity because we have a need to know. In Missouri, the lack of yard signs compared to Bush-Kerry race in simply amazing. We see them here and there but I would say here it is at least 80% less than previous races. Bumper stickers are probably 70% less than before. Is it fear of vandalism, apathy? I apologize in advance for this vanity but it would be an asset to hear what it is like in other states right now. Some of my neighbors who usually are big Dim supporters and always have signs... do not have signs this time around. If a thread similar to this has gone around I missed it so thanks for your input. So am I nuts or what?
Very few yard signs in Texas as well
The only house in my block had a Hitlery sign....NO sign this time...I LOVE IT!
Others have mentioned similar observations.
It may be your neighbors are bitter gun loving Christian nascar rednecks. ;-)
Here in Texas, I have seen ONLY Barry stickers and a couple of Barry yard signs.
BTW, ALL were on vehicles being driven by blacks.
I ordered mine Labor Day weekend, Sunday I think, and still have not received them. They sent an email saying due to the overwhelming demand they were backordered and working hard to fulfill all orders ASAP. My sister who ordered a day or two after me received hers on Monday so hoping mine show up soon.
What do you attribute this to?
My guess is they are not behind the ‘O’.
People usually always do signs to show who they suuport.
Keeping hidden may mean they know others konw how rhw usually vote. But this time they are voting R.
I’m in PA and I’m actually surprised at the number of McCain yard signs that I’m seeing! My kids even come home and report that a new McCain sign went up!
I’m safe to assume you are not in Austin? < grin >
Houston Texas and areas north of it.
LOTS of McCain signs in my little corner of Ohio (near Dayton). I don’t see many bumper stickers for either candidate.
I haven’t seen a single yard sign here in Orange County, CA. I’ve seen one McCain bumper sticker and a handful of Obama stickers on granola-mobiles.

I’m not seeing many here in Michigan.
I think the campaigns realized yard signs and bumper stickers are not an effective use of money. They are more useful in local/state elections where name recognition is important. The local Obama campaign was charging $10 a piece for signs back in July. Not sure if they are still doing that. Not to mention the threat of vandalism has been rising over the last decade for cars with Republican bumper stickers!
Here in southeast Virgina I haven’t noticed many, just a few here or there, slightly in favor of McCain.
Much different than the 2004 elections.
Reporting in for Florida —
Just saw 2 Obama yard signs and 1 McCain yard sign this week !!
No car stickers at all !!
Lots of Obama TV commercials !!
I still have a McCain sticker on one car - but lock it in the garage each night ...
Someone took black spray paint to all the large Obama signs by painting a large circle with a diagonal slash mark through each circle. (the vandals left the other large democrat signs alone that were set up right next to the Obama signs.)
I should take some pictures of them and post them on FR.
I just laughed my @ss off when I saw it. (even though it is vandalism)
