Pinging both my lists.

Personally I eat the critters, and I'm sorry Larry got sick somewhere along the line, but he should consider trying meat again.

"Most of our South Florida condo people are appalled at seeing her standing over a moose."

(Brooklyn/Yiddish accent): "Whaaatt??? They don't eat meat or something?"

Everyone I know that kills a deer eats it. Deer meat is good. It freezes well. If one is a good hunter, one can save money on meat. Venison is also a lean meat which is good for you.

More stupid people. There is not photo of Sarah standing over a moose for one thing. There is one of her with a cow caribou. I think there are more hunters than jews in America so they should shut the hell up.

Talk about misplaced priorities. Vote for a candidate who finds infantcide okay rather than an animal hunter.

Mr. Derfner has evidently never seen the inside of a slaughterhouse. Paying someone else to do your killing for you is not the mark of a civilized man, but of a coward. And I suspect he has never heard of one of the premier gun rights organizations in the country, Jews For The Preservation Of Firearms Ownership.

I don't speak Yiddish but I do know what "putz" means.

Apparently he doesn’t realize his food in the grocery store comes from (omg) killing animals.

Wonder if this putz ever considered it was those dumb cruel hunting rednecks that stopped Hitler. Oh well... to each their own. (I didn’t realize that if the moyle slipped it would result in a lobotomy as in this poor gents case.)

Meant to add, the past President of the NRA, successor to Charleton Heston, was Sandra Froman.

She’s Armed and President NRA's new Jewish leader shoots holes in stereotypes.

That's her, behind the wildebeast, Larry.

Well at least the animals that are hunted have a chance unlike the slaughtered cattle and chickens. Not only that but the hunters thin the herds so they don't over populate and starve to death.

Hmmm maybe Islam is a step above.....

Okay, just for the freaking record, and for the dozenth time, the bleeding critter was a caribou. Okay?

Second, no hunter I know (talking Montana here) kills for fun. You idiots.

They kill for food.

They kill for an exotic gourmet meal that cannot be bought in a restaurant (farm-raised elk are not the same as wild, just as with salmon).

Some kill for trophies and hides.

Some have found hunter roots. Man was a hunter for a gazillion years before he was a community organizer.

If you’ve never had the experience, you simply do not know what you’re talking about.

Those who kill reputations are far, far more disreputable than those who kill wild game.

And, at bottom, hunters do more, spend more, care more for preservation of game and other species than nonhunters. They pay for the survival of those species. Boneheads who condemn hunting spend nothing but cheap talk. But even if you dismiss all the other points . . .

It’s not a cock-a-doody moose, you morons.

‘Feh’ on controlling the deer population. They’re so cute, they should overpopulate and starve to death rather than be sport for some mean hunter.

What a completely distorted and foolish view of the world. His first misconception is that the moose was killed for “sport”. Moose a are a major food source in Alaska, and I’m quite sure the Palin’s ate their prey.

Unless this person is a vegetarian non-animal product user, he has not a shred of moral ground to stand on. Commercially raised meat animals live in fairly horrid conditions with no degrees of freedom. They’re fed whatever slop is available, and when slaughtered it’s often neither pretty nor particularly humane.

On the other hand, wild animals live freely, in nature. That does pose some challenges, but I think most folk would agree that overall conditions are much better for a wild animal. It’s only at the last instant of the animal’s life that hunting impacts it, and the entire ethic of hunting is directed at a humane end. As with most worthwhile pursuits, there is skill involved in becoming a proficient hunter. Another benefit of hunting is that largely the meat is free of hormones, antibiotics and other ‘benefits’ of civilization.

In short, I believe that for non-vegetarians (the vast majority of the population), hunting should be regarded as a more ethical and intelligent choice than buying farmed meat at the local supermarket. If you look around for good deals, or hunt public land, hunting can save some dollars as well!

It should also be remembered that hunters are the primary source of animal conservation dollars - completely refuting any argument of negative impact.
