Israel gave serious thought this spring to launching a military strike on Iran's nuclear sites but was told by President George W Bush that he would not support it and did not expect to revise that view for the rest of his presidency, senior European diplomatic sources have told the Guardian.
The then prime minister, Ehud Olmert, used the occasion of Bush's trip to Israel for the 60th anniversary of the state's founding to raise the issue in a one-on-one meeting on May 14, the sources said. "He took it [the refusal of a US green light] as where they were at the moment, and that the US position was unlikely to change as long as Bush was in office", they added.

Hell, I think it’s WAY past time!
Bravo Sierra.
The sooner Israel realizes that Bush does not have their best interests at heart...the sooner they’ll stand a chance of holding off the terrorist Muslim hordes.
But it's the Guardian!
Ah, you beat me to it! Lol.
It’s a shame on the rest of us, that Israel is the only Nation courageous enough to do it.
Can’t help but think of Palin’s remarkable speech she was unable to give in New York (republished in the NY Sun). Not to mention her reply to Chuck Gibson in that interview.
naw! Bush wants to wait until Iran has her nukes all in a row ready to go! If Israel had bombed in the spring, the U.S. would have supported her, for sure! Israel is our only allie in that part of the world.
I cannot actually believe people believe this. Yea, I can see it now,

Olmert: But.. sir!
Bush: I-I am the decider, Olmie sorry.
Olmert: okay Mr President, bye!

Bush: Hey Olmie...sorry.

“Beg forgiveness, not permission.”

Bomb bomb Iran
The group is also known for its 1980 song titled “Bomb Iran”, which was recorded in the midst of the Iranian hostage crisis and sung to the tune of “Barbara Ann” by The Beach Boys and The Regents. Later, in 2003, the group recorded a song called “Bomb Iraq”, sung to the tune of “Yakety Yak” and supporting the imminent Iraq war.
I wonder how many will die because of this decision.

Because the US controls the airspace over Iraq they will need to use to get there. By allowing them to pass over, the US gov’t cannot pretend innocence and non-involvement if Israel were to bomb Iran, unlike the time the Israelis bombed the Osrick reactor in Iraq....
