Fox News Blames Democrats for Financial Crisis, Bill Clinton Agrees

Going very much against the media meme that the current financial crisis is all George W. Bush and the Republicans' fault, Bill Clinton on Thursday told ABC's Chris Cuomo that Democrats for years have been "resisting any efforts by Republicans in the Congress or by me when I was President to put some standards and tighten up a little on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac" , relevant section at 2:45).

Whether he knew it or not, Clinton was going against virtually all press outlets that have been pointing fingers at Republicans since this crisis began, and likely much to the dismay of such folk actually agreed with a Fox News segment aired on Tuesday's "Special Report" (video embedded right):

You know this and many here know this. However, sadly, we and our children will pay in numerous ways for social engineering run amok.

Welcome to The United Socialist States!

“Can anything stranger happen?”

In a normal year, I’d say no. But, wow! Anything truly could happen.

Look for a photo of Obama’s earpiece to show up after or during the debates. Better yet, look for it to fall out and leave him speechless, literally. A disaster on which the press could not pull down the curtain.

Look for Biden to self-destruct with some kind of racist, sexist remark during the VP debate, a gaffe so remarkable that it cannot be excused or overlooked.

Look for Brokaw (or at least one MSM with deep-seated honor, if that’s not too much of an oxymoron) to find his soul at last and say, to the effect: “I’m mad as hell that I have to be a phony for this guy; it’s too obvious, and I’m not going to front for it anymore.”

Look for Biden to quit, as some think, but look for Hillary (after having promised to accept in secret negotiations) to say in public, “Nobody talked to me about it, and I cannot accept because ________________ (fill in the blank yourself).

Look for some really, really terribly delicious revelations about Obama to come out. And this one, seemingly unlikely to the average Joe observer, is actually most likely. Reason? Bill Clinton has all but endorsed McCain in the last couple days; heck, he’s practically on the stump. Remember. Bill Clinton never takes a risk unless he has four Aces in his hand and four up his sleeve. Bill is out there. He knows something about all those missing years and missing records. He’s gonna leave a bruise. Better get some ice ready to put on that, Obee.

Yes I agree, that was a great piece and the American people should see it so they know who the real culprit is here and its not US! I thought that piece was very well done. McCain should use it for his ads.

"BILL CLINTON: Well, maybe everybody does that a little bit. I think the responsibility the Democrats have may rest more in resisting any efforts by Republicans in the Congress or by me when I was President to put some standards and tighten up a little on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac."

Let's hope Rush has the audio and plays it several times today.

Of course, no one should be surprised. The Clintons have absolutely no interest in Obama being elected POTUS. It ruins Hillary's plans to run in 2012.

Ouch, that's gonna leave a mark. And from Billy of all people.

This has got to be the most entertaining election I've ever seen.

Maybe Bill had a “conversion” experience.

That's what I'm thinking, and it wouldn't surprise me if some of the posts on the daily Catholic Caucus threads had been traced to his Harlem office.

Rush mentioned Bill’s response in the first 5 minutes of the show.

As I recall, this mess began with Clinton’s administration, so is he owning up to it to take the heat off the Federal Reserve or what?

Ah, the report clears up my WTF reaction from the headline. It is all about protecting the legacy.
"... resisting any efforts by Republicans in the Congress or by me when I was President ..."
Yep, it's all about the "me."

Don't forget, Slick Willie is also trying to cover his own a$$ in part of this statement:
Democrats for years have been "resisting any efforts by Republicans in the Congress or by me when I was President to put some standards and tighten up a little on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac."
There's no evidence he wanted to "put some standards and tighten up" on Fannie and Freddie when he was President. LOL.

A McCain ad showing Bill Clinton admitting that the dems are to blame for blocking reform would be sweet and powerful.

For the Clinton’s, it’s pure revenge. Has nothing to do with McCain.

KCCengineer said,

“Slick Willie knows exactly what he is doing;
1. CYA - his hands were in this
2. Derail Obama
3. Trying to expand HC’s base when she runs in 2012
4. Stick in the eye of the press and leftist who hammered his wife during the primary”

THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT SLICK WILLIE IS DOING! WE KNOW HIM PRETTY WELL!

“Wasn’t it Bill Clinton who signed into law the act,”

It was CLINTON’S CRONIES who made HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS from the Citi/Smith Barney merger that prompted the repeal..

It was CLINTON’S CRONIES who made HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS from raping Fannie Mae...
