Any red-blooded American presidential candidate, especially one who purports to have a superior grasp of the economy, should be spring-loaded to jump into the current economic crisis and show leadership to effect a solution.
Obama's response has been limp, to say the least. Leadership requires a grasp of the situation, an ability to synthesize numerous viewpoints, and an ability to rally others toward a solution. Just like the root cause of the crisis, Obama's performance as a leader has been sub-prime.
Obama wants to have the scheduled presidential debate to take place on Friday night, yet the most important debate perhaps in our country's history is taking place in Washington over the next few days. John McCain will be an active participant in the debate, why not Obama?
What's more, the presidential debates often focus on what the voters want to hear, but the debate in Washington involves a real-world problem that demands leadership skills, what better situation to demonstrate presidential timbre?
Obama's response is proving that he is only prepared for staged events, and unable to lead in a real-world situation. His "solution" involves only affixing blame, while not offering a framework to repair the situation and keep it from recurring.
He is clealy a sub-prime candidate.

You make an excellent point; whatever is cobbled together this weekend is going to be the main driver of the next administration. Whoever of the candidates prevails will be stuck in reactive mode and leadership will consist of placating the true leaders who survive the meltdown.
Don’t be surprised if Goldman Sachs castoffs once again are front and center among the presidential “advisors.”
As I mentioned before Gwen Ifill will do the VP.
Biased???
Don't we already know whom those buffoons are rooting for!!!
All due respect, but if the video should ever be replayed, watch it more carefully there were many pauses and unsure speech moments in it.
Listen to Rush today, you’ll hear the WHOLE thing.
I wonder if there is a screen cap of the other ear? He would be so busted!
Obviously, he didn’t need his ear bud today, hie teleprompter did a suburb job.
What we need to see if the video directly from Clinton joint while Bammie is speaking, the there would be solid evidence that the ‘applause’ wasn’t why he bumbled and stumbled through his ‘deer in the headlights, lip licking and panicky’ teleprompter speech.

TRIPLE POST??? WTH, I’ve never even had a double post. Oh well, I guess it was worth repeat, maybe.
Well I’ve seen enough of the democratic peoples of the USAR today....
Both Pelosi and Boxer chiding McCain for making an issue of such an ‘important visit’ back to Washington when he has left Obama in the lurch!!
Nobody has mentioned Pelosi famously shutting down the legislative halls when another important issue came up in August - but the Democrats just had to leave for vacation.
Now an urgent matter of the peoples’ bankruptcy has come up and they are saying (in strange exact duplicate) McCain’s presence isn’t necessary???
Who do these people think they are reporting to? Airheads like they are??
Unfortunately ladies in the age of the internet - nothing will help you - you are embarrassing yourselves - and we have seen the bottom feeders you really are.
