Obama -- An Opportunity to Lead, No Teleprompters Allowed
HMV

Posted on 09/25/2008 7:04:43 AM PDT by Hillary'sMoralVoid

Any red-blooded American presidential candidate, especially one who purports to have a superior grasp of the economy, should be spring-loaded to jump into the current economic crisis and show leadership to effect a solution.

Obama's response has been limp, to say the least. Leadership requires a grasp of the situation, an ability to synthesize numerous viewpoints, and an ability to rally others toward a solution. Just like the root cause of the crisis, Obama's performance as a leader has been sub-prime.

Obama wants to have the scheduled presidential debate to take place on Friday night, yet the most important debate perhaps in our country's history is taking place in Washington over the next few days. John McCain will be an active participant in the debate, why not Obama?

What's more, the presidential debates often focus on what the voters want to hear, but the debate in Washington involves a real-world problem that demands leadership skills, what better situation to demonstrate presidential timbre?

Obama's response is proving that he is only prepared for staged events, and unable to lead in a real-world situation. His "solution" involves only affixing blame, while not offering a framework to repair the situation and keep it from recurring.

He is clealy a sub-prime candidate.

Obama doesn’t do “change to his script well”.

One who has to memorize and telepromt every word he utters would not like off the cuff re-arrangements to his orderly and falseworld.

How about Friday - Mr. Obama - spend your debate time explaining your birth certificate - or its lack thereof for the American people.....who you expect to bail the nation out of the costly democratic mistakes in that “save the poor and let them eat cake” lousy schemes you got sucked into.

ROFL That was VERY good.

He is truly a ventriloquist's dummy and cannot speak well without a teleprompter. Gotta get my chores done so I can watch c-span.

“The president ought to be able to more than one thing at a time...”

Yea, well you are a senator...not the president...so go do that idiot!!!

This fool wants to BE president, he wants to just look the part. McCain wants to lead the nation.

The perfect example of a person who must be capable of thinking clearly 24-7:

This is who I want to get the 3AM phone call? I don’t think so.

This is all the leadership we will see from Barry.
“My name is Barak Obama and I approve this bail-out package”
He has nothing to offer his fellow Democrats as a bargaining chip because he hasn't done anything with them before. He has zero leverage inside the Capital Building.

I notice a parallel between the respective candidates' attitudes on the debate, and their attitudes toward withdrawal in Iraq. Lord Barack (the most merciful) wants to stick to a debate schedule come what may, regardless of the circumstances. McCain says attendance at the debate will be dependent upon successful completion of the Senate negotiations. Lord Barack (the most merciful) says we should have a specific date for withdrawal, come what may. McCain says a withdrawal must depend on the circumstances on the ground, as defined by the military leadership actually doing the work over there.

Which candidate seems more realistic???

In a little less than four months one of these men is going to be president of the United States and become responsible for administering whatever comes out of this process. One of them will be responsible for the success or failure of the most massive economic legislation ever enacted. This will effect every citizen in the U.S. and every important market in the world.

What kind of leader waits for the package for which he will be responsible to be phoned in to him? What kind of leader sits back and offers to pitch in if others say they want his help?

I know that if it were me I would want to be right in the middle of the process. I would want my ideas heard and I would want to hear others’ ideas as they are spoken and debated. I would want to know who said what and who supported or opposed what. I would want as much information as possible about how the end package was arrived at and I would want it as a matter of personal experience. I would want all this because I would know that I would have to work with the people who put this together and I would need to know who I could rely on for what and who my opposition would be and why.

Obama has proven himself, once again, to be passive and weak. He is no leader.

McCain, whatever his failings and I am sure they are many, has shown he has courage and is not afraid to lead. I am now convinced that he really does mean it when he says “country first”.

Thanks for the laugh. I am sure Osama is getting a briefing on how hedge funds work, what short and long means, what derivatives are, and; all the economics he can cram from basic supply and demand, money and banking, micro and macro theory, etc. I think the truth is the time span is too short to coach him.

Consider this one statement also “The best explanation both for Gaius’s (insert Obama’s here) behavior and the subsequent hostility of the sources is that he was an inexperienced young man thrust into a position of unlimited power, the true nature of which had been carefully disguised by its founder, Augustus. Gaius, however, saw through the disguise and began to act accordingly. This, coupled with his troubled upbringing and almost complete lack of tact led to behavior that struck his contemporaries as extreme, even insane.”

Will they check for 'ear pieces'? Obama also has a 'Dick Tracy' wristwatch teleprompter...will they confiscate that?

Obama's "handlers" can feed him their answers for him to respond (or rebuttal) to any question or argument while the other candidate answers or responds to the moderator.

If the debate is run by liberals as well as the moderators...who knows what they'll let him get away with...

It is my understanding the three Presidential debates are to be operated by liberal “moderators” if there is such a true and honest person.... Schieffer is one, a PBS personality and another alphabet outlet for the third....none from Fox of course. Perhaps they should have four if Obama goes solo on Friday - they could have a McCain solo debate with a Fox interviewer rah rah rah - the ratings would go through the roof - I nominate Greta!

The VP moderator is Gwen Ifill she of PBS liberal fame..
