Barack Obama has a two-point advantage over John McCain in the traditionally Republican state of North Carolina.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the Tar Heel State shows Obama attracting 49% of the vote while McCain earns 47%. A week ago, McCain held a three-point edge. This is the first time in eight Rasmussen Reports polls that Obama has held any kind of a lead in North Carolina, though the candidates were tied once as well.

The survey must have been taken in Durham.

I think the socialists are pulling out all stops in this.

they see either their imminent total victory or total collapse.

McCain had better get on TV and SOON and tell how this financial mess got started, how HE predicted it years ago anad tried to stop it, and how the DEMOCRAPS prevented action.

If they let it pass without telling how it happened then they deserve to lose. it is the BIGGEST DEMOCRAP SCREW-UP IN HISTORY

So now we don’t like Rasmussen? We’re whistling past the graveyard I think. NC shouldn’t even be close.

Sounds like suspending your campaign, removing ads, and backing off a national security debate with a community organizer is sound strategy. /sarc

I was called two days ago and when the poll was over I asked who was sponsoring the poll and was told “The Democrat National Committee.org”. I was asked how likely I was to vote, who I would be supporting for President and for Senate as well as whether I was pro-choice or pro-life.

That wasn't a poll - that was a phone bank trolling for votes.

I’m just posting these polls because they are all so out of whack, Obama is paying for push polls like a madman. You get what you pay for, if you pay the pollster and tell them you want a certain result, they’ll get it, trust me.

They are seriously this cycle trying to influence the polls and peoples opinions, its total Obama bias.

At this stage, McCain is behind about 5 pts nationally. This is probably still enough to win NC narrowly, but the poll is well within the margin of error.

Unfortunately this is probably accurate. The American people believe that this mess is the fault of Republicans. The Republicans WE need to set the record straight. Government/Democrat mandated affirmative action lending is reponsible. It’s not too little regulation but too much government interference in freedom.

I would like to know how McCain can be 5pts behind Obama nationally when 20% of the Hillary voters have stated they aren't going to vote for him.

Obama is going to get crushed!

Seems to me like it’s more “pro-McCain” than it was “pro-Bush” four years ago here in east Carolina. Certainly I see a lot of Obama support, but I see more and more McCain support since Palin.

I’m not worried about NC, we’ll be a red state this election. These polls are a bunch of hooey.

“McCain needs to unleash the full fury of Wright, Ayers and Rezko. Not to mention ACORN and Salinsky. Run footage of Obama saying we can’t eat and drive what we want, etc. I’m sick of pussy footing around with Obama. Time to nail the bastard over and over again and hard.”

Before McCain does that he should use Sarah MORE! Since Obama and the debate organizers insist the debate goes on for Friday, McCain should send Sarah to stand in for him at the debate. After all, Vice Presidents stand in for their Presidents when needed. The Obama campaign has been saying how Sarah isn’t ready to be a heatbeat away from the Presidency, so they should be eager to try to prove she isn’t ready to be President by having Obama debate her! That debate sure would be FUN to watch!

Rasmussen is pretty solid... But I’m not buying this poll. I think McCain wins this state pretty comfortably. Bush won by 13 in both 00 and 04. A conservative Dem may make some inroads, but a far left (black nationalist) candidate ain’t going to flip it that much.
