David Broder, the Washington Post political editor who is considered the Dean of American political reporters told Trinity University students here that there is no such thing as 'media bias,' 1200 WOAI's Michael Board reports.
"I have spent almost fifty years of my life covering campaigns with other people," Broder told 1200 WOAI news. "I don't think there is a serious problem with ideological or political bias."
Broder's comments come as the issue of media bias has become a key issue in the Presidential race.
John McCain's campaign manager called out the New York Times earlier this week, saying the newspaper is '150 percent' behind Senator Barack Obama's campaign.
Broder, 79, says he doesn't see political bias among reporters of his generation, and he certainly doesn’t' see it among the younger reporters who make up the ranks of Americans newspaper editors and broadcast news reporters.
"I don't find a problem with bias among my younger colleagues at all," he said. "That's not a concern of mine."
Broder has appeared on the influential Sunday morning television issues program "Meet the Press" more frequently than any other person.
Although he generally covers politics from both sides, many observers regard Broder as a conservative.

I think it would be more accurate to infer from Mr. Boder's direct quote that he does not care about the bias .
When you are blind, it is hard to see.

These people believe everything that democrats stand for and swallow it whole, therefore everything in the media is “normal” and “mainstream” to THEM. They are hard left wingers, anything conservative is OFFENSIVE to them and they can’t believe anyone would buy it. To THEM this is “fair”.
One portion of the electorate woke up this year - Hillary Clinton voters. The press chose Obama and dismissed Hillary as if she was a conservative Republican. Democrats have NEVER had to confront having their horse in the race subjected to the bias in the media.
Many of them are smacking themselves in the head now because for years they couldn’t see the nose on their face. Now they see the obvious bias in Obama vs. McCain.
When you are the benefactor of the bias, it’s not “bias”, it’s “normal”. The media will pay dearly for tampering in the democrat primary, they just lost a chunk of the last bastion of viewers with whom they had any credibility left.
This is typical of liberals.
They honestly think they are so correct that “bias” only exists on the “right”.
As long as somebody is saying something they agree with, they are blind to the bias.
