ABC News has learned that President Bush called Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., this evening and invited him to participate in a meeting about the Wall Street bailout bill tomorrow afternoon in Washington, DC, with other congressional leaders, including Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
Obama accepted the president's invitation, a source tells ABC News.
The invitation comes at an interesting time. The President has not been in the middle of negotiations with Congress, leaving that task to his Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson.
McCain earlier today announced he was suspending his campaign -- and his participation in the first presidential debate Friday night -- in order to return to the Capitol to work on the flailing bill. McCain's move has been denounced by Democrats and political observers as a political gimmick, though the McCain campaign insists the senator is trying to put politics aside to solve the stalled legislation.
President Bush's move could be seen as an attempt to aid McCain's gambit by creating a presidential-level meeting where the Arizona Republican is present.
Obama still intends to attend the debate Friday evening.
Bwa ha ha ha....... the Obamanation just had to accept b/c staying out of this “summit meeting” between the POTUS and Congressional leaders would have made him look marginalized..... great move, President Bush!
Now all the useless MSM and Democrap tools who are moaning about how Obama should stay on the campaign trail will just have to accept that McCain and Obama will be in DC tomorrow. Hope something good comes of the meeting.
lololol
0bama's contribution will be the coffee and doughnuts. And he'll screw it up.
Ummmm....so now you think McCain should be the one debating himself? That works.
No, I think this will all work out. I hope so. Maybe.
That is probably also for the better. You know that the Dems would dig their heels in and rubber-reject whatever McCain came up with, even if McCain promised to raise minimum wage to $50/hour, ban oil drilling, and an immediate Iraq pullout. If Obama is there to share a little credit, there may be a chance of something getting passing to prevent next week’s meltdown.

Well, Obama did say, ‘call me, I’ll be there.’
Has anyone checked on the DUmmies tonite, I can't, just got done showering!

Breaking News >> Bush Proposes Meeting With Obama, McCain and Congressional Leaders on Bailout Bill
So, Reid tells McCain to stay away and Pres Bush tells Obama to attend. This is getting so funny I can almost enjoy the shenanigans in the midst of the fear of economic meltdown.
I think Obama knows if he turned down an invitation from Bush to come to DC to help solve the problem, he would be perceived as putting Obama first and not the USA.
Freaking hilarious
McCain volunteers to come sort out the economic mess, its his agenda, Bambi had to be forced by the President, which he couldnt turn down.
MCain goes to Washington
Bambi says No
President basically says get your ass here
Obama can’t really refuse.
The debate will continue, even if McCain has to do it from satellite.
“Ive just decided that President Bush is an IDIOT...or a traitor.”
Don’t you get it? Obama made this big deal: call me if you need me, but I’ve got other more important things to be doing than my JOB. He went out on record saying he wasn’t going to Washington. So Bush called him on it (per McCain’s request, as you will see if you review McCain’s press release earlier today — and Bush had yet to agree). So Bush agreed, even though he’d rather stick needles in his eyes. So Obama is answering the call of John McCain, like a whipped puppy dog, and going to Washington to look second rate. It’s brilliant.
And by the way, if you haven’t figured out the debate thing, John McCain NEVER wanted to debate on Friday night so that his butt-whippin of Obama had no time to resonate around the water cooler and the Sunday talking heads got all that free time to tear him to pieces. He also NEVER wanted to do a standing (literally standing behind a podium) debate. He bated Obama with Friday and podium against his stronger foreign policy, so that Bush could come out with this disaster NOW (as opposed to 10 days ago) and get this canceled. It’s absolutely brilliant. They don’t even know what just hit ‘em.
Well, you know what they say, “Last one in’s a rotten egg!”
A debate of one ?
That would make Obama a Master’debater wouldn’t it ???
Yes he did. And McCain showed initiative. 0bama is looking like a rookie politician (which he is). Is Axelrod on vacation?
...and name callers. LOL It doesn’t look like a good move, but maybe it keeps the media at bay.
I like the President, but sometimes he doesn’t play to win. (which is not too good given the political climate these days)
