Wow, not Presidential, when the sitting President will be out in Jan, and the winner gets to inherit this problem, and as a sitting US Senator, and one who could possibly be inheriting the problem doesn't need to be there?

Are you nucking futs?

He should not miss the debate - period. He has a jet airplane. He should use it. This just looks like he is more interested in putting his name on the legislation than winning the presidential campaign.

I'd bet a cup of coffee he decides to show up. If he don't there could be h*ll to pay for his campaign. Many are now asking, why not go back and help out if necessary, and go to the debate too?

Exactly. Fly to Washington, get briefed, do what he needs to do, fly to the debate on Friday. Don't cancel the debate. The presidential race is just as important as his meetings in the Senate.

In reality, both Obama and McCain should have resigned the Senate in August to run for the Presidency. I realize that Senators don't do this anymore, as it is more important to hold on to their existing power and not put their necks out.

Fortunately, the way you’re viewing it is very much in the minority.

What needs to happen instead is congress must outlaw Credit Default Swaps retroactively

Outlawing all of them retrospectively would let the crooks who wrote them off the hook. I would suggest that any CDS transactions which are not related to an ownership interest in the counterparty should be void; otherwise, CDS payouts need to be limited to CDSs whose existence and trigger status are made public, and should be limited in speed, based upon the underlying asset base, so as to ensure that when a CDS collapses the people to whom it owes money share in the proceeds, instead of having the people whose CDSs triggered first get all the money while other buyers get nothing.

Alternatively, have expedited bankruptcy proceedings to unwind the assets.

He should suggest that if Obama insists on a debate, he can debate Sarah Palin on Friday and schedule a make-up town-hall session some other time. Since the Democrats and LSM have insisted that Sarah Palin is grossly underqualified, Obama should have no trouble cleaning her clock, right? (nb: I suspect a lot of Democrats would tune in to see that).

He had ways of doing this that didn’t look so much like ducking out of a debate when he’s down 8 points. I’m sorry, but this looks like a tucked tail. Not Presidential at all. If the networks and Barry are there Friday and McCain is not, he’s toast.

He's a U.S. Senator, the ranking minority member on the Senate COMMERCE COMMITTEE and he's being paid to do his job...so I suppose, in your opinion, that's "not presidential"?

He is NOT thinking! McCain is an idiot, and BO is going to clean his clock. It's over. Damn! The Messiah wins by default. The election was McCain's to lose, and he just did it. Someone said there are over 300 million people in this country, and these two clowns are the best we can get for president? Pathetic!

.l.and of the 300 million, you have just demonstrated that you're among the top when it comes to real "clowning". A leading member of the SENATE COMMERCE COMMITTEE, paid to his job as a Senator, miss formation of the legislation vital to the economic health of this nation...that's your recommendation? BTW click here even BO is feeling the heat.

Actually it’s not, I’m being much fairer than most because of how much I want him to pull this thing out and win. I was the first person in my office to read about this when I mentioned it there was stunned silence. Get real. This isn’t McCain’s wheelhouse at all and he’s going to be shut out by Democratic leadership anyway. Dumb move.
