Updated: Katie's Interview With Sarah Palin (sneak preview of interview viewed on CBS tonight)
CBS News ^ | September 24, 2008 | Christine Lagorio

Posted on 09/24/2008 3:01:30 PM PDT by Sun

Sarah Palin: The interesting thing in the last couple of days that I have seen is that Americans are waiting to see what John McCain will do on this proposal. They’re not waiting to see what Barack Obama is going to do. Is he going to do this and see what way the political wind’s blowing. They’re waiting to see if John McCain will be able to see these amendments implemented in Paulson’s proposal.

Katie Couric: If this doesn't pass, do you think there's a risk of another Great Depression?

Palin: Unfortunately, that is the road that America may find itself on. Not necessarily this, as it's been proposed, has to pass or we're gonna find ourselves in another Great Depression. But there has to be action taken, bipartisan effort – Congress not pointing fingers at this point at … one another, but finding the solution to this, taking action and being serious about the reforms on Wall Street that are needed.

If anyone finds the complete interview on line, please ping me to the link. I rather wait and watch the entire interview instead of seeing little sections. Thanks!

If this doesn't pass, do you think there's a risk of another Great Depression

Passing this bill magnifies the risk of Depression. The last Depression started as a major Panic that should have ended in Recovery after a couple of quarters or a year of Hard Times but the massive Hoover/FDR intervention converted it into two decades of Depression. Our politicians have not learned from history, or they don't care, or they(Democrats, anyway)desire Hard Times as a way to perpetuate themselves in power and complete the transition to socialism.
McCain is a good man.
He is a hero.
He believes in American values.
He is an Economic ignoramus.
He is an energy illiterate(ANWR).

Unfortunately Sarah Palin is economically at sea as far lost as is McCain.

Why not watch it live, or record it?

This Great Depression talk is if I may quote Sarah “a little over the top.” I know jounalism lives on exaggeration of every story (every hurricane will be just like Katrina etc...).

“Passing this bill magnifies the risk of Depression. “

You might be right, but it’s hard to say. There are economists for and against passing the bill.

What bugs me is that they want to pass it in too much of a hurry. When it’s going to end up being nearly a trillion $$, it seems they should discuss it.

It will be interesting to see what the presidents says tonight, or maybe we can guess. :)

Farther. Which is scary, ‘cause McCain’s plenty far lost. And our alternative is Obama, who’s not exactly an economic genius either. Biden probably has more of a clue than the other three put together, if only because he’s been hanging around the Senate longer, listening to more hearings where people who have a clue try to get a bit of it across to Senators who don’t, but he still barely has a fraction of a clue.

I hope everyone watches the entire interview and shares what they think about it.

I’d also like to caution about transcripts. I have found that transcripts are sometimes a little different from what the politician actually says, and I wonder if it’s intentional.

I’m not saying this transcript will be incorrect, but when I record interviews from my tv, and then compare transcripts, I have found differences.

I thought you might have been confused, which is why I suggested watching or recording it.

And good luck with that dental work!

That cogent observation describes every person on the planet right now.

Newt Gingrich understands this thing. So does Senator Bunning and Rush Limbaugh. Just about everyone else is effectively socialist.

O’Bama knows what he is doing economically. He is a Marxist and to get to his Heaven you first have to destroy the system that exists.

Biden has more of a clue but his goals are incompatible with actual solution of this thing.

Biden voted FOR CRA, Carter’s extesion of THE GREAT SOCIETY which was the start of this mess. Wall Street wasn’t as greedy as some say. They were funneling billions to the Left, as the law required them to do. And it still does.

Lots of economists are “economists”- Keynesians who believe that an economy cannot function without a few government experts turning the knobs and pushing the levers. Keynesianism is a pseudo Economic justification for government direction of the economy. Keynesianism is also the paramount theory among politicians because they believe themselves to be the Wise Men who should direct the economy and they never studied actual economics in school or out. Those with MBAs studied various approaches to Finance which is quite something else.
