Excellent video, lays it out in a very easy-to-understand, straightforward manner. Thank you. I believe it is consistent with Catholic teachings as far as it went.

Maybe there are other non-negotiables that should be included such as unjust war and a huge social justice situation which were omitted.

My only other thought is that even if your candidate passes their litmus test on all five non-negotiables (for example, "I'm personally opposed to abortion but believe"), if they are in a party that will caucus together to further advance that agenda, then I don't think you should vote for them under any circumstances unless there are some unforeseeable compelling circumstances that would trump all the above which would be something like genocide, etc., on the part of the other candidate. I skipped the death penalty, don't want to get into it but would have to consider a candidate's position on that.

If the opposition candidate(s) are perceived to be a greater evil, maybe take the "not vote" option or vote for the one who will cause the least harm.

I can't in good conscience vote for any Democrat unless that party change their position on those 5 critical non-negotiables. But if any other party has even one non-negotiable with far more potential harm, no I wouldn't roll the dice, but either consider the no vote option or draw up my own chart like they did. I hope that makes sense.

Sigh. I still can't resolve if the Iraq war was truly just or not, and a lot of people argue that it is worse than a, b, c, but I don't see that either at this point.

Since W is not running again I don't see how that would play into your decision this year. Some may argue that the war was just/unjust but we are there now and the person and party that will be taking the reigns in January is what we need to decide upon now. I personally will not vote for someone who will cut and run, leave our troops in harms way, and abandon our promise to the Iraqi people.

No, I don't believe in cutting and running, am squarely with you on that one plus I've considered our debt to the Iraqi people all along in this. Will it play in my decision? It would if it weren't for the non-negotiables, but like I said, I remember John Paul II's warning, and rightly or wrongly, I haven't forgotten it. He didn't go so far as to say it was an unjust war imo. The war has never been an all one or the other for me.

Now there's a good chance that Iran will be targeted. That is something I don't want to rush into, and I see one side more apt than the other to do it. But neither do I believe in talking to that hateful leader (can't never exactly remember his name). Generally war should be as a last resort.

Few things are simple for me. But we don't live in simple times, and I can't imagine any circumstances that would make me vote for Obama. I was thinking of elections in general, and we don't always know who is going to start which war, when or why until they are in office. Plus it depends on whether it's a pre-emptive strike or retaliatory how I might view it.

But this isn't only about war, just threw that in there because of what has happened historically because it *could* be an issue in some election. I can think of a few what if's that could happen in either party through massive deception, and the constitution seems to have become whatever the current leader or SC wants it to be. Did the framers of our constitution ever realize it would be used to support aborting babies and could they have imagined cloning and embryonic stem cells, homosexual marriage (I'm resigned to that at some point but it doesn't mean I support it but it doesn't mean I hate homosexuals) etc.?
