I have heard that...
I have that recipe, I am actually afraid to try it.
No I am not joking. I really am afraid to try it.
Go ahead, try his recipe. (I have - he made it special for me...) But I have a couple of observations. First, he puts salt in the basket. Forget the salt... (You'd think he was in the Navy making coffee with sea water, but I know he's one of those Army types... )
And he uses way too little coffee in the basket.. The correct method is to take the basket and put in the filter. Forget measuring, it's a waste of time. Just fill the filter to the top with coffee (I recommend one that says "Dark Roast" as opposed to one of those wimpy types called master blend or custom select or some other such wimpy name..)
On top of that he uses way too much water... Fill the carafe with water to the 6 cup mark and pour the water into the machine... (Do place the carafe under the brewing basket before following the next step..) Turn the brewing device 'on' and wait for the bubbling, burping, spitting, and steaming to finish. You will have approximately two travel mugs of caffinated beverage unlike anything you will find in any restaurant, or even Starbukz.. Drink one now, pour the remainder into your thermooz to assist you on your daily drive amidst the liberal throngs driving their Priuses on Interstate 80 (or whatever is nearby...;-)
You should know that I taught Darksheare how to make coffee, he just can't take my version so he came up with his own...
But the purpose of using that much water is to recirc.
It condenses down slightly, hence the need for the salt.
Unfortunately, it does do damage to the coffeepot.
And now everyone knows why I drink tea.
