Here’s an easier solution: If you stop paying them to have babies on welfare, they might just stop having babies on welfare.

I think it is brilliant.

It sure beats paying them to have babies (welfare)

I bet you that this will be perceived as racist. But meanwhile, when Planned Parenthood wants to kill the babies of poor black women, it is doing something “noble”.

I wonder how many gynecologists contributed to this guy’s campaign?

Margarat Sanger would be proud of how the eugenics movement is started to regain traction.

I don’t have a problem with this at all. No reason to have a child brought into this world because the mother needs a bigger check. This is a voluntary program and I am all for it.

This was an idea brought up by a woman in the private sector, and the private sector is where it needs to stay.

Any time a government “option” is put into play, it can become a government “requirement”.

No, bad idea for any politician to think about.

I agree. In the long run, the taxpayers will save millions due to reduced Medicaid and other government benefits, not to mention savings due to less crime, prisons, etc.

wouldn’t it be easier to just not give them money in the first place?

I’m all for it. I’m sorry, but I’d rather they prevent unwanted pregnancy than kill their baby later. It does nothing about diseases, and would probably promote the spread, but I’m in save-the-baby mode right now like I never thought possible. Something must be done and this is a reasonable start. We’ve all got to start being reasonable. I realize the Catholic portion of our team will hate this, and I’m sorry. And I respect that.

I have no such misgivings. Who do I call to lend my support and financial aid?

These women are way too stupid and too cheap to get their tubes tied on their own, but wave a little money in their face and they probably will do it. I’ll bet they would do it for a couple hundred bucks in coupons for booze and smokes.

Not brilliant. Poverty in America is not a permament condition: the USA has more social mobility than any country on earth. In both directions: poor people getting jobs (or better jobs), starting their own businmesses or even becoming prosperous; rich people loosing their foothold, taking a dive.

That said, poor people have babies in every country in the world, and always have. Our grandparents and great-grandparents had babies when they were poor: that accounts for our every existence. That's why there is human life on earth. And human life one earth is a good thing: remember?

That said, don't think I'm an advocate of poor women being reduced to a degrading state of lifelong welfare dependency. The solutions for women are marriage and employment. As always.

I agree. Tubal ligation should be free to any poor person, black, white, or red — funded by nonprofits. I’d love to be a part of that kind of organization. That’s the best way I know to immediately impact the abortion rate in this country!
