With all the talk, especially from Biden yesterday, about this issue, I thought it would be good to have the info.
ty for posting
Easily fixed. “Executive Order, Law of the Land, kind of cool.” We just need a President with the cojones to do it and withstand the inevitable screams and lawsuits of the environmentalists.
Utah is in two basic pieces: there’s a Northern half which looks sort of like Switzerland and a Southern half which looks sort of like Mars. The coal reserves are in the part which looks like Mars and there’s no rational reason for any part of that to be off limits for coal mining of any sort. The only thing the region is any sort of a “preserve” for would be tarantulas.
W. needed to undo every one of SlicKKK’s executive orders on his first day in office.
I’m a coalminer’s daughter...
This burns me up...
There were so many that they all got lumped together and people have forgotten.
Currently Billboy's legacy is that of a "lovable rogue".
Gag.
I remember this coal scandal. I'm glad IBD hasn't forgotten.
The Clintons are scum (even though they will probably end up voting for John McCain LOL).
Do you know where we could find such a president? /s
Well I was aware of it. This happened late in the Clinton presidency and it was widely anticipated that George Bush would reverse the Clinton effort to help his foreign friends by taking a large chunk of American clean coal off the market. Didn't happen. So who do we blame? Not Clinton. Blame George Bush. This is not a troll. I will gladly eat crow if someone can explain Bush's failure to reverse the Clinton order.
Yeah, many of us here screamed about this when Clinton did this in the final days in office. Now, we have had a Republican president for the last 8 years. We had a “Republican” Congress for 6 of those 8 years. Someone tell me why nothing was done to remedy this?
Very interesting and not surprising.
We the People are such dupes.
But...but...it was for the children of tomorrow!
Hannity & Colmes III
COLMES: Thats a slanderous accusation, Mr. Klayman. In fact, if you read up on the issue youd know that President Clinton created that national monument for the "children of tomorrow". I guess you didnt know that fact!
HEARING BEFORE THE SUBCOMMITTEE ON NATIONAL PARKS AND PUBLIC LANDS
STATEMENT OF HON. MERRILL COOK, A REPRESENTATIVE IN CONGRESS FROM THE STATE OF UTAH
Snip... I think this land swap is particularly a wonderful thing for the Utah school children, both the children of today and the children of tomorrow.
By the way, the second largest ‘clean coal’ reserves in the world lie in China.
Clinton received millions from the chi-coms. quid pro quo?
Probably because the reserves of low sulfur coal are plentiful in Wyoming and Montana.
But, in the last 7.5 years what has George Bush done to eliminate these politically motivated abuses?
We elected a republican president and gave him congressional majorities to restore conservatism and sanity to national policy.
But when he and the republicans held the Presidency and both houses of congress for years they spent their time taking care of their fat cat friends and pandering to illegals and minorities instead of doing what is best for the country.
Much of the troubles we have today could have been addressed in the years republicans had majorities in Congress but they were too busy ripping off as much money from taxpayers as they could.
President Bush didn't veto one spending bill in his first four years! Not One!!
What did he do to open up our coal reserves? What did he do to build nuclear reactors before petroleum skyrocketed? What did he do to stop the government from forcing lenders to make bad loans to unqualified borrowers?
We expect these abuses from democrat administrations but republicans showed they are just as bad or worse.
Now democrats and republicans are working together to take money from our kids and grandkids to make their fat cat friends even fatter.
Both political parties are worthless and do more to damage America domestically than they do to help.
In a sane world most of the crooks and shysters in Washington DC would be in Federal prisons instead of sitting on their butts in Washington scheming to rip us off some more.
And that applies to President Bush as well.
A man who sold military weapon secrets to the enemy for campaign money is not a lovable rogue in my eyes, he's a traitor. And the traditional penalty for treachery is death.
I am very much afraid that the same fools who elected that traitor is about elect another and much more dangerous one.
Aside from the national parks, I agree with you.
