Iran is close to the point of being able to arm a warhead with a nuclear core even if it insists its atomic activities are peaceful, the European Union warned Wednesday.
In comments prepared for the International Atomic Energy Agency's 35 board members, the EU also asserted that Iran appeared to have had a past nuclear arms program despite denials from Tehran.
The statement was made available to reporters as IAEA board turned its attention Wednesday to Iran's nuclear defiance. The group is concerned about Tehran's refusal to freeze uranium enrichment despite three U.N. Security Council sanctions and its stonewalling of IAEA attempts to follow up on intelligence suggesting it was developing a nuclear arms program up until several years ago.

The flip side is, if Iran is removed as the source of world terrorism, NKL, Syria and others will get the message.
According to UN nuclear inspector David Albright, Iran could have the bomb by March 2009.

According to the left wing, we had better get rid of our nukes before Iran or North Korea gets theirs. Unilateral disarmament was logical to them during the Cold War with the Soviet Union, so preemptive unilateral disarmament with Iran only makes sense, in a sick sort of way...
Iran will get the bomb. I don’t think they will use it on Israel, but will save it to keep the regime from attack by the US or Israel. I don’t see them as crazy as their rhetoric. Iran will act mainly through proxies against the US or Israel.
But those proxies will use it when they get a hold of it.
The proxies won’t be allowed near their Nukes. They will be given other weapons.
Well we could have done something when the price would have been relatively cheap. The price now has become very steep. Since we have the following additional problems.
Russias Fleet in Syria providing air defense support (anti-air missiles) for that nation which protects Syria and denies the airspace from Israel. A small Russian Fleet heading to Venezuela with the worlds largest Naval Battle Cruiser providing air support for Venezuela (a few hundred anti-air missiles). Apparently the Iranians are getting or have gotten the S-300 Russian missile defenses. Russia is also still holding Tibilisi and the Caucasus Oil Pipeline hostage or can effectually overrun both in 15 to 20 minutes from South Ossetia, not to mention the artillery and ballistic missiles the Russians have in South Ossetia. The price now may have become too great to stop Iran. So the question is what will Iran do once it has nuclear weapon capabilities mounted on medium range missiles. Explode a nuke near the Straits of Hormuz and stop shipping ? Destroy Israel with a nuke ? Attack Iraq with nukes ? Or perhaps destroy an Eastern European City ? Since we have the Russians prepositioning in Venezuela (Oil) and Georgia (Caucasus pipeline), my guess would be a nuclear demonstration explosion in or near to the Straits of Hormuz (underground or desert). Oil transport will be halted because the Iranians would issue a declaration that they now control the straits. Russians will defend Venezuelan Oil and Russians will cutoff Caucasus Oil Pipeline. The West could be forced to suffer an Economic Collapse. And that may just be the opening rounds of the worse case scenario.
But hey, why worry. Ignorance is bliss and the Russians have no eye on the worlds oil supply and no eye on the Ukraine and they will not use the Iranians to blackmail Eastern Europe and/or blackmail the Western Middle Eastern oil producers. Besides, even if they do all that, the must have US forced them to do it anyway. /sarc.

I agree with you. If Iran nukes Israel, there won’t be much left of Tehran afterwards, and they know it. However, the Gulf states down south have the oil Nutjob and his Russki masters want, and no nukes to strike back....
If the Bush administration doesn't move in a decisive military action between now and Nov 4th, then expect Israel to take all required military actions (including use of nuclear "bunker busters") sometime between Nov 5th and Jan 20th 2009. If Israel does that, it's WWIII since all Arab nations will be honor bound to jump in on the side of Terhan, like it or not. That would probably signal a spike in oil prices. Ya think?
I don’t share your optimism. You must remember I’manutjob thinks that it is his duty to pave the way for the 12th imam. He honestly thinks that bombing Israel is his religious duty.
