Democrat Takes 52-43 Lead Among Likely Voters, Erases Republican's Post-Palin Pick Gains

Barack Obama has seized the reins of economic discontent, vaulting over John McCain's convention gains by persuading voters he both better understands their economic troubles and can better address them.

In a head-to-head-match-up he's now supported by 52 percent of likely voters vs. McCain's 43 percent, the first significant advantage for either candidate among likely voters in ABC/Post polls.

Add third-party candidates Ralph Nader and Bob Barr and it's essentially the same, 51-43 percent.

The contest has shifted from a 49-47 percent McCain-Obama race immediately after the Republican convention.

McCain's bounce -- on individual issues and attributes as well as in overall preference -- is gone.

The entire black population of the US is less than 14%. They need to get the facts and vote for what is best for America. If that individual happens to be black so be it. Voting for a color won’t win here.

These are seemingly appropriate arguments of others struggling to support McCain. The arguments can be dismissed or addressed. If you believe that Gov. Palin can help inner city kids to solve the mentioned problems, so be it. But the facts of her situation say that she cannot. The kids we are talking about do not have moms and dads who are governors. Their only hope is avoiding these situations and she cannot teach them how. It’s not a reflection on her personal worth or general ability. For whom can she a role model, is what sincere independents are asking. (regarding these issues) People definitely planning to vote for Obama are irrelevant to this discussion.

So Obama and Biden are the role models of America? Inner City kids get precedence because all the fathers ran off?
Abortion is a good thing because it eliminates the Inner City? Morals have no place in the Inner City? Come on.

It is not Governor Palin (Soon to be VP Palin) job to raise these children.  That is for the parent to do, NOT the government.

I know you didn’t say that but that’s the pass. That’s why Governor Palin is being attacked.

Embargo has the most libtard argument against Governor Palin I have ever heard.

Liberals, always have their hand out and looking for someone else to assume their responsibilities.

Many of the people saying these things do not support abortion. That is not the issue. It may indeed be unfair,(just because she is a mother) but her lack of personal success in the areas under discussion would appear to be a matter of valid inquiry. You may see it differently from those who raise the questions.

Actually if you read the internals,it says that the over sample of black votes was not included in the final poll results.

Yea..sure. Then why did they oversample?

Whatever. It’s a garbage poll, and I’m not over analyzing it.

With all this statistical ‘weighting’, I could make any research significant.

Next poll ABC will probably show Obama leading %110 - %-10
