Joe Biden's denunciation of his own campaign's ad to Katie Couric got so much attention last night that another odd note in the interview slipped by.
He was speaking about the role of the White House in a financial crisis.
"When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the princes of greed," Biden told Couric. "He said, 'Look, here's what happened.'"
As Reason's Jesse Walker footnotes it: "And if you owned an experimental TV set in 1929, you would have seen him. And you would have said to yourself, 'Who is that guy? What happened to President Hoover?'"
According to BObama, it was the Japanese who dropped ‘the Bomb’ on Pearl Harbor.
You can’t even say, “out shines”.
Watch for Biden finding an opportunity to spell to the drive-bys something along the lines of "Anyourizeme"
I thought that the full quote was “We have nothing to fear except McCarthyism and the Global Industrial Military Complex.”
The problem is the average dolt voter is almost as stupid as Biden.
I've met many people in their 20's and 30's that have very little appreciation when big events happened:
duh...first jetliner?....ahhh yeah, around the end of the First World War. unh....polio? yeah...that was wiped out when they outlawed DDT.
“WE’RE going through!” The Commander’s voice was like thin ice breaking. He wore his full-dress uniform, with the heavily braided white cap pulled down rakishly over one cold gray eye. “We can’t make it, sir. It’s spoiling for a hurricane, if you ask me.” “I’m not asking you, Lieutenant Berg,” said the Commander. “Throw on the power lights! Rev her up to 8500! We’re going through!” The pounding of the cylinders increased: ta-pocketa-pocketa-pocketa-pocketa-pocketa. The Commander stared at the ice forming on the pilot window. He walked over and twisted a row of complicated dials. “Switch on No. 8 auxiliary!” he shouted. “Switch on No. 8 auxiliary!” repeated Lieutenant Berg. “Full strength in No. 3 turret!” shouted the Commander. “Full strength in No. 3 turret!” The crew, bending to their various tasks in the huge, hurtling eight-engined Navy hydroplane, looked at each other and grinned. “The Old Man’ll get us through,” they said to one another. “The Old Man ain’t afraid of hell!” . . .

No, it isn’t that no one calls them out on it that is so unfair and sad. It’s that no one knows enough TO call them out on it that is sad ... and frightening.
But his hair looks more like a stalk of Brussels Sprouts.
I always liked the part where he fixed the heart-lung machine with a fountain pen.
Commercial broadcasting started in the U.S. in the 1941, in Germany, France in Britain in 1929.

Obama was quoted as saying:....and when the Japanese dropped the bomb on Pearl Harbor....
"The bomb" Obama....hell you lived there for several years and you think it was "a bomb"?
...was probably too busy memorizing the Quran to pay attention in class.
Naw, he was the guy that started the Franklin Mint from which I purchase all my soon to be hairlooms.
Stand up Chuck!
So you miss Russert giving cover to these democrat idiots? Okay
He is, therefore, the perfect partner for B. Hussein Obama.
"Part of what a leader does is to instill confidence and demonstrate that he or she knows what they are talking about.... When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened.'"
Maybe FDR posted his response on MySpace...anyone care to check their archives?
Joe is sofa king stupid. It’s just too bad there aren’t a thousand conservative comedians to repeat his gaffes everywhere until everybody hears them.
I agree, and have been saying:
Many of these stupid slips and comments by Biden just might be on purpose - a ploy of the Democrat party so they have some excuse for dumping him. Since the nomination of Sarah Palin for the GOP vice presidential spot they have been in a panic spin. There has been a lot of talk insinuating that they might be planning to replace Biden as the V.P. choice on their ticket. Biden, in consideration of Palin's popularity, and how it has damaged the Obama campaign, appears he might be in agreement. Perhaps even willing to step out - you know, for the sake of the party, LOL.
So first step was for Biden to openly state that Hillary would have been a better choice for Obama's Vice President, and tout her qualifications and capabilities for that role. That set the stage.
Then tell people they are patriotic if they pay more taxes.
Then criticize the Master's advertising strategy.
Oh, and show you don't know a hoot about history, past presidents or even when television was first available (so the Obama staff can claim you are out-of-touch, like they did about McCain).
What better way for the Dems to divorce him from the ticket and then say it was because of "irreconcilable differences" or some such excuse.
I believe the Dems.are purposely having/wanting/coaching him to mess-up by publicaly stating such foolish things. It's called planting evidence, making a case. All this to get things in line for Hillary to step in, or so it seems. I have always suspiciously anticipated that adding Hillary to the Obama ticket would be the Democrat's "Hail Mary play" at some point if the campaign was not going well.
Even though neither Obama nor Hillary wants to serve together, they might just be being forced to play by the big Democrat coaches' rules at this stage of the game since Obama is losing in popularity and "rah-rahs." Biden is just a sacrificial lamb.
Could this be their October surprise?
